I have a design for a WSK-style knife.I'm looking for a knifemaker who can make it for me.
Cost is something of a factor.I have a limit of 300.00$ CDN for this project.I know that may hinder me but that's my reality.
The knife would be 12" long 1/4" thick high carbon steel(O-1,1095 ect).green Micarta slab handles and a olive drab blade coating.(Too many black carbon blades out there)
A sheath isn't nessary I know a guy who does all my sheath work.
If this project intrests anybody please feel free to e-mail or PM me.
This is what I'm looking for......

Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately, the saw teeth would prevent me from doing it. Too much labor and, in my case, too steep of a learning curve.

I would talk with Tim Horan, Mark Terrill, Or Jurgen Schanz. Your budget will be hard pressed.
How are you wanting to do the Sawback? Your draw knife seems to short to be effective. Need to alter some geometry and I think you got it. We are playing with a Kryton grip handle to absorb more shock on chopping chores and better grip in wet environment. Thought you may want to consider. drop in some aggressive traction pads like MOD does on some of their handles.
I like the Large butt on handle looks like it will bring some balance to the front head.

The draw knife is what i want.I feel it will be efective for what i do in the bush.Of course I'm a little flexable with the designAs per the saw.I have considered forgoing the teeth for a serrated top blade.I have also considered having this made as a fighter.3/16" thick and 8" long.
jdm61,would you consider doing it without the saw?if so shoot me a pm.

Questions.
1. What is the purpose of the bevel on the narrow portion of the blade? Is is designed to be used as a draw knife?
2. Are most WSK's hollow ground on both sets of bevels? chisel ground? hybrid?
If I was making such a knife, I would probably forego having the "drawknife" bevel wrap around the "hook" so that I could either chisel or hollow grind the small bevel and have the wide partof the blade convex ground. Seems to me that having such a short bevelon the main part of the blade would give you a screwy edge geometry unless you did a radical hollow grind and that would leave you with a fat heavy tip with a real delicate edge.

i had a guy make me a custom wsk type knife , he might be worth a shot , here is a few pics of mine. mine also has a hollowed handle for survival type stuff. if you want his name pm me.
