I'm trying to decide on a new edc but I'm having trouble picking. I really like the sog aegis and the kershaw blur but I'm open to any suggestions. I want an assisted opener, plain edge, drop point, TiNi blade. Trying to keep the price 75 or less. Tyia:thumbup:

You pretty much described the Kershaw Cryo 2. Pre-orders from the usual knife vendors are being filled as I type this, but a certain major outdoor retailer has had them in stock for a while.

My first suggestion would have to be a Blur. You really CAN NOT go wrong with that knife, especially when you consider your criteria. Or pick up a Blur blem from Dave (kershawguy) and use what's left of your budget to get that Cryo 2. Good luck, either way!

I have no experience with SOG (though I have wanted to get an Aegis to try), but I know the Blur is fantastic. Check Kershawguy.com for Blur blems in S30V or CPM 154 for the best bang-for-your-buck. Even the common Blurs are great.

What does TiNi blade mean? Titanium Nickel?

You really can't go wrong with a Kershaw. Just pick one that you like the looks of and it will be quality that you see at even a higher price point. Not necessarily the blade steel, but I haven't had a problem with their lower class steels. 8crmov13 I think is one comes wicked sharp and performs adequate for the price. The Sandvic is solid as well.

follow that link ^ find one that looks good to you. They don't make a bad knife.

If you decide to go up to 136, let me know. You can get a contego for that from Knifeworks. By FAR the best knife in that price range

My votes go to the 3 below in order of quality

Titanium Nitride

Yea Benchmades are sweet too. The Axis flick is arguably faster and definitely easier to manipulate than an assist opener. Both great companies, but Kershaw really has the AO on lock.

Thanks BePrepared. Just Googled it and that makes much more sense.

Thank you guys for the suggestions im checking them all out now. Does anyone know who sells the benchmade griptillian for the lowest $?

All black new Thermite. Don't forget about either the piston or knockout from kershaw as well. Same blade steel as (most) blurs, as well as being MUCH easier to sharpen than the recurve in the blur.

As far as Benchmade goes, i havent personally seen anyone with prices that compete with Cutlery Shoppe using the bm25 coupon code.

You can get a Trage or 710 for what most places charge for a blk coated blade Grip (about $110) and the assisted Barrage or Volli for under a $100

I didn't even know the Thermite was coming out in a black finish! I'm sure it will be the same black oxide coating on the other China-made offerings. I'm excited!

The termite might just be the best bang for your buck that kershaw has ever produced. 3.5" blade in a decent (normal for kershaw) steel, frame lock, excellent grind design, and all for under $40

Couldn't agree with you more! I'm going to be in Austin next weekend. I'll make sure I head over to that major outdoor retailer and see them in person.

yep, they beat knifeworks by $3... very impressive
Amazing math! Who really cares? Im new here, only 4 posts in, but i know d-baggery when I see it. Lets not go down the "you're new here so you're clueless" road. Question asked, answered, options given. Get it, got it, good.

Hmm... you took my post completely wrong... i genuinely MEANT that it was impressive. Knifeworks has always had the most awesome prices, but seeing them beat knifeworks impressed me. No sarcasm was intended or implied
