Im looking for an assisted opener for edc for 75$ or under....help plz!!

I don't particularly car for SOG's assisted openers because:

1)The lock is right hand only
2)There is some blade play in them.
3)The best steel they are offered in is AUS-8. Nothing wrong with AUS-8, but a lot of them are now using (barf) 8cr Chinese crap.

I have the Trident Tanto Tini and the Flash 1. Both are AUS-8 Tini, the blade is fine but the lock and blade play just annoy me.

IMHO, for assisted, Kershaw and Benchmade are the way to go.

Thank you everyone for the help. I actually went with a benchmade griptilian instead. That axis lock sold me :)

Hmm... you took my post completely wrong... i genuinely MEANT that it was impressive. Knifeworks has always had the most awesome prices, but seeing them beat knifeworks impressed me. No sarcasm was intended or implied
Beprepared my apologies forcthe misunderstanding. Apparently I dont know as much as I thought, lol. To me the benefit of c.s over k.w is the coupon code fets entered right away so it always displays the reduced price in your cart and theres room for several item. To see the modified price on k.w and enter the code it seems like you have to go through most of the checkout beforehand. Dont quote me on this because im obviously not captain obvious, ironically speaking.

Good call. I was going to try to steer you away from assisted openers anyway... As fast as they are to open, closing them is almost always more clumsy anf dangerous than it needs to be since you have to overcome a spring. I guarantee you will be able to open, use, close, and pocket your griptilian faster than any assisted opening knife on the market, and you'll likely scare less people (who think an assisted opening knife is a "switchblade") in the process.

I am a huge blur fan. I think they are great value for an edc. However kershaws new lineup is really sweet as well the cryo and cryo 2 both hold their own. I agree that the thermite is also pretty good. So for the budget allowed could get 2-3 cheaper knives or 1 blur and a cheap sidekick

Kershaw blur is probably the best knife that meets your requirements. It has great ergos, blade steel and smooth assisted opening.

Kershaw thermite. Bigger blade, hinderer design, spanto

oh, and I have assisted and non-assisted knives. I don't really have a preference in that area, and IMHO, it's not something I care about. I do appreciate flippers though, assisted or not.

I have a Kershaw cryo for sale cheap if you would be interested.

Thanks guys for all the advice but again ive already made my decision. I actually just received my benchmade in the mail today. Im definitely satisfied with my decision, this knife rocks. I switched from the cold steel recon1 tanto to this one and am loving it already!

LOL no worries Chuck. Misunderstandings are common in text based communications ;)

Hello and welcome to the site. Congrats...you've won the new members "free knife lottery." There really isn't such a thing but just go with it. :)

I have 2 former passaround knives (lightly carried and used) that still look pretty much new. You can take your pick between a Kershaw Piston or a Kershaw Knockout.

EDIT: I realize neither of these is TiNi coated but thought I would offer anyway.

Free Kershaw sound great to me! What's the catch ;)
