hi all, new here, happy i found it.

I am going to treat myself to a new EDC flipper, i am currently looking at a ZT 0801, or a Hogue x5 Wharncliffe.

Open to other suggestions, please.

I like the idea of modifying it slightly.. doing bright colored screws / spacers ect..
on that topic - I have yet to find a site that has multiple "spare parts" to purchase for mods.. so any links to places you've used would be much appreciated.

anyway - thanks in advance for the thoughts / opinions

Spyderco Advocate.
Can't beat M4 steel, and the platform is a blank canvas for mods.

Welcome!!
You can also check out a Spydie Ti Military. I mention this one as you are looking at the 4" Hogue.
Excellent knife, the Millie, that is screaming to be pimped!
I have a Hogue X5 and if it a seriously cool blade!

Here's the Hogue, don't have a pic of my Millie on my phone.

The 0801 is a great knife and if you think you want one, you better grab it soon as they've been discontinued. They can be found at some great, closeout prices too.

I find that most ZTs that have been out for a couple of years are fairly easy to modify. You might also look at the 0562. I think I prefer it somewhat over the 0801.

In terms of sources for custom parts, I've done business with MXG Gear and had great experiences. They carry a lot of parts for Spyderco, ZT, Kershaw, Hinderer and they've even started offering custom parts for Chris Reeve Knives. Check them out for choices in screws, spacers and clips.

When you want to make the jump to a custom scale, we have a few true artists here on BF. I don't want to name names for fear of leaving one of the artists out, but there's a whole forum of custom goodness you can peruse. If you want to buy some ready made scales from a retailer, check out bladescales, USAMadeBlade, BladeHQ and Knives Ship Free...they all carry some "ready to buy" custom scales. Nyfestyle makes a sweet custom CF scale for the ZT 0450.

Have fun! Make your knife your own!

Maybe an used industrial Hinderer, in the secondary market.. Would you have a great knife, with many possibilities for customization. If $200 is the limit, me too I would say ZT 801!

thanks for the info - just ordered a 0801 today.
Anyone know of any other parts sites / mod sites to look thru?
