What does your hard use consist of? Even a Kershaw skyline can take some good abuse, or a SOG flash or Spyderco Delica. As long as you use a knife for cutting and a screwdriver for screws, painters key for paint cans, etc many knives will last a very long time. Just don't misuse you knife, and most any will do. Ask any oldtimer why they only carry a peanut slipjoint, or something like that.

well im big on the large bulky blades like the recon 1 and such....im 6'6" and ive got a pretty big hand....ive looked at the skyline....but it seems like it would be small for my hand...i guess my style of blade would fall under hard use tactical.....even im only gunna washing airplanes....not a whole lot of cutting involved there....but i like to carry something tough and big and menacing looking....but then i also like big n tough and pretty...like the junkyard dog 2 composite (another option im tossing around in my head)

+1 on the spyderco Delica, or endura. I got my Endura for around 65 and despite the abuse it has suffered, it is VERY tight and a two minute touch up has it shaving... Pretty solid blade, imo hard to beat, but I have no experience with Cold Steel and my SOG aegis still feels light and odd, and the zytel handle cracked (just a little, but still). Kershaw skyline and Spyderco ambitious are pretty fantastic in my opinion, especially for value.. I love both of 'em, and use them more than any of my more expensive Benchmades... So.. you have some pretty good options, enjoy

i almost bought a delica.....but again its the matter of they are just to small....i need something around the 4 inch blade range....and its not gunna be super hard used really at all...im gunna be washing airplanes as a profession....its more aesthetics to me...something mean and vicious looking yet big n stout n sturdy

Large Voyager would be good, should fit your hands very well and they are very tough, smooth opening and closing, nice stonewashed blade, etc. for only $38-45. Best ergonomics for me so far and I would trust them over most $100+ tactical/heavy-duty folders. Big difference between them and something like an Endura or Skyline.

I'd also say a Large Voyager would be great. I own the clip point recon and for the money, I prefer the Voyager over it. It will handle pretty much any task you'd throw at it.

I have the M21 14sfg. For edc compared to the recon 1 it's s***.

The recon1 is good for EDC but imo the BM grip and Spyderco native are better.

They are both a pinch cheaper but have better blade steels.

lol ive had the 21-14 also.....i edced that sucker everyday till i lost it to enterprise rent a car -.-....i loved it so much....those serrations were amazing....and ill check out the voyagers

The voyagers are good value for money. They're cheaper than the the recon 1 but cut just as well and have the same blade steel.

If you like the wave feature of the crkt M21 sfg, all you do is unscrew the thumb stud and string a cable tie through the holes and tighten on the spine (very common mod)

Make sure you tighten on the side of your thumb if you still open one hand with your thumb

lol i never ever used the thumb studs....they just werent practical with the dual flipper....and i had mine oiled and tightened absolutely perfect....perfect...i could open it with the flipper without flipping my wrist at all...just a finger push and it flys open and it opened really smoothly and those veff serrations were amazing....plus that one had sentiment to me.....i got stabbed by my friend in the finger with it :P

I have a few suggestions as I always do lol.

Spyderco Resilience - huge tough and cheap
Even the Tenacious is great but if you want BIG go for the Resilience.

Spyderco Manix 2 - add $5 to your limit and just buy it - big, good for hard use, nice blade steel, sweet locking mechanism, etc. I love the Manix 2.

Kershaw JYD II - it's a BEAST of a knife.

The Cold Steel Recon 1 or American Lawman would work as well.

The Ontario Rat-1 is a good knife but really I'd go with one of the others.

Too bad you can't afford a ZT. Or you could save a little more and grab a ZT 0200 - you can pick them up cheap off of the exchange especially but other places have awesome prices as well. I really would just save up the extra money and pick this up.

ive actually had my eye on the jyd 2.2 composite....but ive heard its 13c26 +d2 and ive also heard its 14c28n + d2.....and i hear alot that 13c26 rust easily....and where im gunna be working is a high moisture environment (washing airplanes) and i would hate to see that baby rust

Don't go for Delica or Endura, the tip is too thin, won't withstand hard use. Go with one of the Cold Steel Recon knives.
