Heard back Monday and it's taken a couple of days to get over the shock! :)

I should be headed out sometime next week, first day of work is May 10th. They do a lot of high traffic applications so I'm very excited about working there.

Where in New York are you moving to?

No idea! :D

I have some family I will probably be staying with either in Queens or Long Island till I find a decent place. It's hard to check apartments when I'm not actually there. Looking for a place in Queens / Brooklyn since I can then just take the subway in everyday.

I'm sorry!? :foot:

I'm glad people can do it though because I sure couldn't and I would much rather be out in the sticks with all the critters.

But it sounds like you are excited which is all that matters. Good luck.

I'd love to be out with the sticks and critters, problem is there is absolutely no work out here. I'm more excited for the job then anything else, but it is New York. Twenty million people find a way to stand it. :)

If I may be so bold to ask... what do you do for a living/career?

For the most part my title is "Web Applications Developer."

Warning! Geek language to follow!
Mostly that entails programming web applications. These are different from sites because instead of just serving up static content they interact with the user dynamically. The forum is an example of a web application.

My focus is PHP and MySQL with a good deal of jQuery thrown in there. All the stuff (language, server OS, tools) is typically free unlike Microsoft's IIS and .NET frameworks.

As a fellow MI resident and IT guy (laid off IT guy...unhappy Home Depot employee atm) let me congratulate you on your job!:D

I must admit that moving to NYC would be a very hard move for me. I have nothing against 20 million New Yorkers, I just don't want 20 million people in a 10 mile radius around me.

Congrats on your new job,Josh

You know you can't EDC your millie there, right?;)

Congratulations, Josh.

Thanks! :)

Oh I know. :grumpy::o

That's why I have my Umnumzaan... oh wait.... can't take that one either. :(

Sticking a Mnandi (to come!) in my pocket in a pouch. If someone wants to hassle me over that then they are obviously having a very bad day.

Congrats on the job and the move!:thumbup:

NYC is such a cool place, lots to do and explore. The better half and I go up there often to check out the museums and art galleries, and the great ethnic resturaunts that's even better than here in Washington D.C.

Once you get settled in, we ought to get together!
I can show you all the neighborhoods you should stay away from :D

When you get to NY Esav and I will show you around.

Congrats!
Start saving your money for the big knife show in November :D

Subway to work is the way to go.

There are some fine state parks & forests near buy to get your sticks and critter fix as well.

Congrats on the new gig!

Congrats Josh!

We'll send you a care package with some Better Made BBQ chips, Fago Rock 'N Rye, Sanders chocolate and Stroh's ice cream. :D

Grats man. NY is a blast. Despite the knife laws, NY is the best city in the world. There's nothing else like it. You could go to a different bar and restaurant everyday and still never see them all. You won't get bored.
