First of all thanks you for all the info regarding kuks.

Somebody beats me to the Chanpuri.... :o

Welcome

Welcome Aboard! Your first khuk! I like the BAS. Good balance and easy to swing.

Really you will like any of them, but maybe the really big ones will take a little getting used to.

While the first is an important step, most people will never be satisfied with just one, so jump on in and get started!

Welcome to the Brotherhood of The Cantina, well, Gin/MammaV, the sisterhood as well.

Welcome to the psycho ward as our Caretaker Yvsa would say! Feel free to jump in with any questions or comments. New folks are always welcome.

(insert meaningful comment HERE).....it seems to be a pretty decent group here, and I like it a lot...I've only owned one HI Ang Khola which I gave away, bought two more recently which I gave away, and am waiting for my fourth one which I will keep....enjoy your visits here as much as I do....

The folks here have been great. I've been directed here through the regular blade forum.

Welcome aboard... BAS or WW2 make a great first khukuri, the M43 is sweet, but your first should have the traditional handle, IMO... a lot easier to hang on to.

Welcome, though I'm really new too...

Sorry about the Chitlangi... I seem to have a real weak spot for "Perfect fit and finish" "Perfect Rig" and 10/10...

From my little experience, I'd go with a 16 to 18 inch village WWII first... It's a standby, does pretty much everything, you won't mind getting it scuffed as it already is, they're comparatively cheap, and if you get infected with the sickness you would end up buying one anyway. :D

Welcome to the Cantina,
Psycho ward? :grumpy: Psycho ward? Wait a minute, "yes", "uh hunh", "okay". Never mind, apparently the voices in my head concur.

Speak for yourselves. I'm not crazy, and neither am I.

Me too! I'm just a normal guy and put my panties on one leg at a time, just like everyone else.

Besides, just because I'm not paranoid doesn't mean everyone isn't out to get me!

So, you got that one too! Sassas, I'm starting to feel like you're my alter ego, and we are somehow psychically connected and driven to want the same knives! I'm half expecting to open a drawer and find a carved horn handle 15" AK, an elk handled Trisul, a village chiruwa WWII, a 20" M43, etc., etc., etc.! :D Luckily Yangdu had an extra 12" chit today that I was able to get, so we both got lucky. Did you get the horn one or the neem?

I track these knives pretty carefully, and since I've been here these are first 12" chitlangis ever offered. Previously there was a run of some little 9" baby chits and one or two 10.5" chitlangis, but beyond that you had to go to at least 15", with 18" being the most common. To my mind 13.5" would be perfect in this size. Essentially about the size of the last few Katunje knives. But the 12" is a nice sized user.

My first khuk was a 21" Chitlangi that is still a joy to hold, and balances beautifully.

Regards,

Norm

I got the horn... It was a tough call, but for some reason I just don't like the look of a light colored handle and polished blade (particularly with the gold hardware) and I figured the wood handle would be gone by the time I decided to get one. I'm not sure exactly what bugs me about them, and the Bura Ganga Ram that was up a couple weeks ago kind of grew on me as I looked at it more and more after it was gone.

What's yours? I didn't think much of it at the time I bought it, but looking back I couldn't find any other 12" chitlangas either. There was a nice thread a while back started by Ferguson I think with pictures of the smaller knives that had one of the 9 inchers. I'll be curious to see what this looks like when it comes in. It has a kind of bent mushroom on the handle in the picture...

HA HA HAHAH. I put my legs on one at a time.

Ok, I really must get my meds adjusted.
