Just got my very first Busse today. It was the straight handled Battle Mistress with the smooth black coating that Phil had posted. Hehehe, can't to get myself to put it down

I can't even get over the pure grandure of this knife. Are their any knives out there that can even come close to challenging the BM for superiority in fit, finish, and massiveness?

Sure hope all other Busse knives are built like the BM cause I plan to get lots more

However above all else I simply must have more BM's

Thanks to those who convinced me to make the plunge and get it, and my hat is off to the Busse Combat Knife Company.

DarkNem,

Welcome to our addiction. So you lost it to a Battle Mistress... heh? Well, handle her with skill and she'll bring you back to your warm home.

Have Fun!

Staight Handled BM was also my first.
For your next, may I suggest you take a look at the ZT BM, it is an E handle and it is also limited.

Hi all. Been lurking for about a month and trying to learn from you guys. I also just got my first Busse, a Basic 5. Great service on a great knife from Bayou Laforche. Or spelled something like that anyways. Cannot talk long as the darned computer for some reason hangs itself up on me when I try to send E-mail. So thanks to all for the good advice that you unknowingly provided!

eaisaacs: howdy. yes i do like it what with first impressions and all. i also went out and threw it at a tree in my backyard. knife is fine but I am not sure about what the other folks who live by me think. Before I got that basic I had no desire to act in such a manner. Looks like the knife was worth every penny just to scrape some moss off my back. Maybe another one will let me discover the fountain of youth! So...where is my Busse folder. This could come down to life or death. Adios, Walter.

Welcome to the Busse Life!
This just can't go without comment ....

Hmmm... Sounds like a personal problem to me.
But if that is the case, then you need a good laxative. Have you tried large quantities of coconut milk?
Find a desert island, take your Busse Knife of course, & split open several coconuts: not only is it great fun, but the milk provides a very violent laxative for you; this will cure you once & for all of wishing for more BM's...! ;)

Wishing you well on your journey thru Busse-Land; the theme-park of the New Millenium.
Yours in nuclear jest! :p

One more that I would love to get is a Satin finished straight handled battle mistress. I've seen pictures of ones where people have removed the original blade finish and made it satin, but were any actually made with a Satin Finish? oh hell, anyone have one I could see? :)

Dark, Yes there were some satin finish limited production BM's and prototypes. There may still be some pictures at www.survival.com or some links to same. Now if I really understood this new software, perhaps I could have the link read Ron & Karen Hood's site, instead of just having the link show....assuming it shows. :)

Walter, It sounds like you have your email program set to dial in to a new connection. Set it to use the open connection or to not dial at all. If you are already connected, there is no reason it needs to dial.

Hi DNemesis,

Congrats on getting a very nuclear knife! Methinks you're in for some outstanding chopping & hacking & slashing with that beast.

However, I see a couple of problems with this blade choice:
  1. You have gotten the biggest, baddest, bomber-est blade first. Everything else will look like something of a downgrade from here. Are you prepared to handle the slight disappointment of saying to yourself, "Gee this looks so-o-o-o-o much smaller than my original BM" everytime you get any model except another BM???
  2. Having gotten a very nice expensive Busse as your first, your baseline pricing window is set at the top. This positions you solidly to join the ranks of us who may just as well have our paychecks directly deposited to Busse Combat. While there's always more Busses to buy, finding more money to buy them all can lead to creative financing problems.

To ease your potential psychological pain, you could send that BM to me for babysitting until you've got something a bit smaller. ;)

Yours in nuclear straight-handled Mistresses,
Greg

RokJok:

Really? :) Your kind offer so appreciated, but three others already beat you to it :D Its amazing how many people offer to help in that respect, lol

Hmm, me thinks its time to keep the BM under my bed at night until I fee safe leaving it out in the living room again :)

Yep, I thought about the same thing when I was looking at a Bader Attack..."but its so small next to my BM", its ok though, Busse knives are all cool :)
