What can I say, I love the pattern. Shown some of these before, but I just got the Holub Sycamore. I think it was made by Camillus. Holub Sycamore was an electrical tool/component Co in Chicago. I love these knives and have owned/given away many. I like to give them to knife folk who don't like traditionals as thanks for stuff and gave one away on this forum. You can still get them cheap, and they are such tough knives.

Nice collection. I use a Klein. If you don’t mine me asking where do you come across them?

The Holub was the obvious choice as you showed it the most, however I'll guess your favorite is the McKlein & Sons.

LOL. I guess that was an unfair Q. The Holub gets the most play cause it's the newest. Not my favorite, though. The Camillus third from the left is my favorite. The other scale is partially melted. First I got in the pattern. And it is a damn near perfect knife (function wise). Maybe the best knife I own. Perfect in every way except for the slight melting (which seems right given the pattern). :)

It is the knife that started my traditional obsession.

Does the company McKlein and Sons have any relation to the company that makes electrician's tools called Klein?

Maybe the spelling is different? Let me know, I've had this question in my head for a few days now, but haven't done any research on it.

I figure you guys will know.

Yeah ,it's M Klein. Sometimes just Klein. Unless I'm wrong. Which I might be.

I was home sick last week and dug out my one and only electrician's knife, a Boker USA with delrin handles. Don't have a clue where it came from, I was at my folk's place at Christmas and was looking in an ammo box and found it. So I cleaned it and oiled and sharpened it up. For a user tool, what great fit and finish. Flush in all three positions with good solid snap. I have a good idea my Dad picked it up off an abandoned workbench in the back of a storage shed at our farm. Likely sat there for 30+ years but its got a new home now.

They are tough to beat, that's for sure. Pics?

I can snap'em but haven't figured out how to post them. That is a sorry state of affairs for a guy who spends this much time on BF, but...

The only way I know is to open a free photobucket account, then upload the pictures. Then you can copy the code and paste it here.

Dan...that is a nice line up, your posts just get better and better my friend, please....keep it going.

Good choice. I have the same one, (Camillus) only the scales on mine are a deeper brown.
I found it last year at an antique shop & it's mint....looks like it was never used.
It is extremely well made....F & F for a production knife is a solid 10.
Thanks for the thread. It reminded me that I had it tucked away....:)

I will throw in my photos. 300

Schrade, Schrade, Old Cami, Newer Cami, Colonial, Klein. The first Schrade is a retirement gift in waiting for coworker.

Just like everyone says, that old carbon steel won't hold its edge forever, but man will
it get sharp.......

Thanks guys. Funny, with all these and the ones that came before, I've never owned one stamped 'TL-29'.

I've had TL-29's, and Klein (Klein Tool, Chicago: they make lots of tools, especially electrical stuff: pliers and the like), but my all time favorite is a plain Boker 9229 (German I think) I've had for years.

I "parkerized" the blades with some barrel browning I got from an old flinklock kit I left in white.

Thing takes and keeps a great edge (carbon steel), and walks and talks great. It was my EDC for quite a while, though in a pouch or hanging on my keys. It's a bit hard on pockets with its square corners.

I'll try to get a pic or two up tomorrow.

Glad to have found fans of this very utilitarian pattern I've always thought was such a great idea.

Some of my other traditionals are Camper patterns ("boyscout" knives) as well as stockmans, 300 series Bucks, etc.

I realy like the looks of that pattern. Must be very american. Not seen here in sweden att all. Are they big as a trapper? I have seen them here before and they strikes me as real hard duty knifes. Carbon steel and wood or delrin is nothing more than whats absolutly nesisarry. There lays a deep charm in the consept.

I'm not an electrician either, but I have two of those Camillus TL-29s. They are a good knife, I don't care who you are...
