I am not sure if this is appropriate or not so please delete this thread if need be.

BUT

just out of total curiosity and education... what kind of knives do ISIS use in those beheadings? what is it that the "jihad john" uses?

If you're not sure if it's appropriate, it's more than likely inappropriate. Just stick with your gut next time.

i asked the question because I think every knife expert should know the good and the bad and the ugly about knives. he should know about the chemistry properties of blades along with the history of knives throughout the course of man kind from the cave man days to the dark ages through present day.

While that may be true the topic is a sore one and fairly distasteful. I'm a huge nut for learning little factoids but this is one instance where I'm not in the least bit interested. If I had to fathom it's probably some cheap ass gas station special from Pakistan.

Curiosity killed the cat. Or as some one else said, "Curiosity is like a butter fly to a flame."

Who here is a knife expert? I sure am not. Nor do I care what vile creatures use to spread their evil. I like talking about what normal people use their knives for......

Poor question and a poor response. Close this one down!

So you join today, 10 posts in about an hour, particularly poking at a forum favorite Becker, and now this. Three words come to mind:

"Slow your roll."

Seriously. By all means contribute, but remember you're coming into a forum with folks who've participated for a long time, know a great deal, and get offended quickly when a new guest takes a dump in the living room. Which you've done with this thread, btw.

Thats not the ugly of knives that is the ugly of humanity. I personally dont care what knife he used and I honestly dont know why ANYONE would give a crap either. Lets not forget that at the very least we are treading in politics territory. I usually dont put people on ignore, but Im seriously considering it this time. All I can hope for is a move to whinier and cheezier places to tell you how I REALLY feel.

That is some kind of ridiculous. What is a knife expert anyway? By the same logic, a person that works at a tire shop should know the chemical composition and vulcanization process of every single tire sold? A cook needs to know the origin and soil composition of every plant ingredient used? Yes, this was a bad idea because it is actually a politically charged topic. Despite your wanting to discuss one albeit morbid component, there is also an emotional aspect to this that cannot be separated from the "what knife is used" question. The correct answer was already noted above and ultimately, who cares? Take a minute, read the rules and read more.
