I've almost collected all I'm going to collect as far as production knives go.There's only a few left on my list..ie JYDII composite,BM930,Spyderco Kris,Spyderco Caly3,Boker Sub-Claw,Mcusta Damascus folder & most of all a William Henry (preferably damascus, but any model will do). After that,my production addiction will be fullfilled;)

After I get those,I gonna upgrade my membership here so I can take advantage of all the great customs I drool over here on a daily basis:D.
I would really like my first custom to be a Jay Fisher. His fit & finish, attention to detail, etc is unmatched IMO.Also really like Gossman,Koster, that new guy..think his name is Butch,& I'm sure there are a lot others I can't think of right now(no offence guys).

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there. Thanks for reading:)

Sounds like a good plan. If I had to dish out some big bucks for a custom knife I think I would go with Jay Fisher too.

That man looks like he can make some SERIOUS blades

A while ago I came to the conclusion that Life is too short to buy production knives. Other than Randall, Reeves, Strider and William Henry I won't buy any more.

I would rather have a few really nice knives than a bunch of mediocre ones.

I buy custom knives and production knives.

There are some production knives that are just very appealing to me.

I buy mostly custom now, but every once in a while I will buy an OLD production from the getting place. (place unnamed on purpose) :D

Was going to put this in my earlier post; glad you mentioned it.

Recently I've been buying out-of-production slipjoints and lockbacks (USA made.)
I find that there's something very special & unique about them.

Especially, for instance, one that showed up yesterday still in the original box, still with the factory seal on it.
From a place out of time.

I still buy both but I have tried to focus on local makers and in SC that is no small order. I'll cruise over to Geno's shop and see how long the wait is.

I like Jay's stuff but I'd like to see steel other than 440C.

I prefer carbon Non stainless steel but D2 or S30V is fine too.

I've started looking at customs a little more of late too. I'm especially looking at local Oz knifemakers who are producing some very nice knives.

I've been seriously considering customs lately as well. But mainly for one $500+ folder for now. I don't have a problem continuing with productions after that.

I'm not saying I'll never buy a production knife again.I will jump at certain companie's sprint runs. It's just that after I get those seven or so knives I mentioned earlier,I'll feel pretty satisfied with what I have as far as production knives go.
I been looking real hard at the custom knives lately & I like what I see.I may not be able to buy one a month like I'm used to,but that's ok.If I get one or two customs that I really like in a years time,I'll be fine with that.;)

If I had as many production knives as you, I'm sure I'd have the same mentality. I just have so much more room for great production knives because my "collection" is seriously lacking.

Jay's 440C isn't your average 440C;).Check out his website.

On a side note, the guy I mentioned earlier Butch.I particularly like his work with 10V.One of his may be my first custom.

LOL:D Yea,I sometimes feel like what the hell am I gonna do with all these knives? Then the knifenut in me kicks in & says buy more, buy more:D

The wife thinks I'm nuts, until I remind her she has more shoes than I have knives.:) That usually shuts her up real quick;) As long as I'm getting the bills paid, let me have my fun:thumbup:

When you think about it, it's much more fun to get a knife that's designed the way you want it, built by a guy who lives not too far away from you and doesn't cost a hell of a lot more than some production models.

Here is a recent custom acquisition.

(Please excuse crappy photography. As you can see, I'm no professional!)

You hit the nail right on the head:thumbup:That's the main reason I'm drawn to customs.BTW very nice knife;)

I'm new to knives, but I like the production stuff, I guess. Have seen some really nice customs too.
