I'm pretty much done with production knives

I tend to buy custom knives if I'm looking for something special. And once a production knife reaches a certain price point, I am strongly motivated to buy a custom instead.

But there are still plenty of production knives that catch my eye. Thousands of knives I don't have but wish I did, with new models being released every year, and even completely new companies starting up.

And it so happens that both of the brands that I semi-seriously collect were production brands, Schrade-USA Old Timers and vintage Bruckmann pocketknives.

Additionally it seems I have particular difficulty saying "No" to a good closeout sale! :(

FYI, you don't need a paid membership to buy from the Knife Makers For Sale Area. The sellers have already paid a KnifemakerMaker membership fee to list their knives there, and are more than happy to sell to us Basic members. :)

Yea,someone corrected me on that awhile ago. Thanks for the heads up though:thumbup::)

Another heads up regarding that forum section, watch it like a hawk if you're in the market to buy. Many of the best deals on the best knives are closed within minutes of being posted. :)

Yea I know...more like seconds sometimes:D

Thanks again;)

Well,I just pulled the trigger on two that I want...BM930 & Spyderco Kris, also got a Browning Icestorm red handle for $33!!:D

I don't know who I think I'm kidding about giving up production knives:o

Now I still gotta get a Spyderco Caly3,Boker Sub-Claw,Mcusta Damascus folder & it's probably gonna take me the longest to save up for a William Henry. Then of course,I have to get a Bark River Aurora & I've heard you can't just buy one Barky:D

Then & only then will I be in the market for my first custom...I hope maybe by late 2009-2010?Hopefully before that.Only time will tell;)

...maybe I'll hit the lottery:p

Bob just FYI there is a difference between "Basic Memeber" and "Registered User" IIRC its 10 bucks...

They should have a lifetime deal though... Its gonna annoy me to re-up every year lol. :)

udtjim,

re your redhead/blond/brunette remark... does that mean a bottle of Clairol will transform my $5 flea market knife into a Sebenza??

Quick - which color should I try??

Sorry, it's early... and not enough caffein!

JTR357,

Glad to see we misinterpreted your title! This place is a treasure-trove of knowledge - and opinions - all great help.
