Strange how things work out. I got up this morning to get a eye exam for my diabetes. I hadn't been there 15 minutes, when the Eye specialist says to his nurse "OH shit, cancel my patients for the next hour, I'm doing surgery!" He spent 10 minutes rather frantically preparing me for surgery, and then lasered my left eyeball for about 20 minutes more. Seems that I was hemorraging all over the back of the left retina, but that he caught it in time. Anyone see any irony in this one???

Talk about serendipity! My Dad had that before he died. I think it's called diabetic retinitis. He was pretty much totally blind the last year of his life because of the hemorraging of all the blood vessels back there, and he was just a year older than I am right now. Somebody is looking out for you.

Better keep that to yourself or they may bring in a proctologist.

We no longer have medicine in the US; it has been converted into a collections agency for the insurance industry. The chances of getting anything done right is about zip.

You got more testes than I got . It does sound like there is miscommunication as much as incompetence . It is too bad they couldn, thave told you about their misgivings on the way in . I think there is a great deal of presumption of compliance where the patient is almost an afterthought or worse yet a by-product of their preparedness .

Yvsa nothing is important to us beyond the fact that you are all right .

Yeah we do.. this was organised to excercise Yvsa's adrenal gland. A simple & logical test of fitness to live.

If the patient cannot survive a burst of adrenalin, He is less likely to survive an op.

That this particular "patient" not only survived, but roasted all in the immediate vicinity + drove off complete with drip feeds & surgical doses of drugs in his system, to say nothing of assorted syringes and kidney dishes:eek::eek: Speaks volumes in terms of his suitability for surgical procedures ;)

Uwinv, you know that, I know that as well as anyone, and better than most.;)
What pissed me off more than anything I think is that the dumbass bitch lied to me. I *knew* there was cardiac clearance and she is standing there telling me, "No there isn't."

The dumbass bitch seemed to be more concerned with the way Dr. Katz was treating me rather than doing her job as it should've been done.
She would've received the same damned cardac clearance yesterday morning that Denise received yesterday afternoon when she, Denise, called Dr. Katz office.
When she came into the pre-op room yesterday morning she was asking when the last time I took a nitro and I told her yesterday. Then she remarked about when Dr. katz was going to do the cardio version and I told her when he was good and ready.
Then she asked me, "Well don't you think something should be done so you wouldn't be having all of these chest pains?"
The dumbass bitch also had several other snide remarks to make about Dr. Katz and how he is treating me.
She has no idea of the relationship Dr. Katz and I have and she damned sure hasn't the right to question his method of treating me.
Dr. Katz is one of the leading heart specialists here in Tulsa and I'm damned lucky to have gotten in to see him let alone his accepting me as one of his patients.
It finally took Dr. Katz to get me straightened out on a regimen of medicine that finally got all of my heart and heart related problems settled down and stabilized.
And he did it all without damned near killing me or putting me in the hospital like the first so-called cardiac physician I had did!!!!

Most nurses are just mighty fine women and men but this is the second one I've came across that had the same "I'm a God/Godess" and I have power over you.
I sure as hell hope it isn't a trend. There's too damned many Drs' with that same attitude.:grumpy:
The dumbass bitch already had me about half pissed off when she came in and told me that She wasn't going to let the surgery go ahead.
I can guarantee there will be an understanding reached even before I get on their damned uncomfortable table the next time!!!!
And they'll probably give me two of their pissy assed little Zantac pills the next time as well if they want me sleepy enough to be a good little docile bull.
I'm just glad that yesterday is over and is now in the past. ;)
Besides I was just taking after you there for a while, after all your nic is Nasty.;) :p

Doctors back home there are so afraid of being sued by ambulance chasers that they are paranoid about covering their asses in multiple layers of paperwork and obfuscation, they are more concerned with ensuring all the i's are dotted and the t's crossed, and all the commas in the right places than in actually helping anyone. another reason to 'shoot all the lawyers'

At least over here they are just underpaid incompetant arrogant jackasses... the doctors, that is* :D - lawyers are overpaid is the difference.

*- except of course that brilliant ER doc, practitioner extraordinarre, and most godly and noble person, who will be stitching up my next oops (if he's reading this anyhow)

and a calming thought for the day:

If we could just get everyone to close their eyes and visualize world
peace for an hour, imagine how serene and quiet it would be until the
looting started.

hehehe...I understand now. Kinda fun letting the old a-hole out to run once in a while, ain't it?

i've been reading all kinds of medicals oopsies lately.

i've had them happen to me as a kid, arrogant SOB doctor prescribed the wrong meds, and not only made my condition worse, but gave me a new one, that took weeks to heal, and was extremely painful (no painkillers either), and could have left me horibly scarred. his response? not much. he expected to get paid.

i know too many people that have had doctors/nurses ignore their requests and demands and do things anyway, and nearly kill them. my grandfather essentially was murdered to to malpractice on the part of a team of doctors. they gave me meds which conflicted, and fried his brain, then shut his system down, and eventually gave him an infection of such proportions, he died in hours. he shoulda had 10 more peaceful years. lawsuit? not possible. doctors of the highest calibre. they don't screw up naturally. prove it. hahahhaha.

my gf's upstairs neighbor had a guy come over to plumb her bathtub - seems it's been draining slow for 2 yrs since the prior tenant. no biggy. he's here 5 minutes, and managed to drain it, by busting a pipe in the wall - not his fault really, but he INSISTED he get his $150, which she didn't pay, and he couldn't back his van out fast enough and split. we won't be seeing him. another guy, a real plumber, super pro shows up 3 hours later, too care of everything. time and half and a messy job: $1500 :) *i* coulda done it with a run to home despot for less, including buying tools i didn't have with me (could have driven 1.5 hours round trip, and/or made some calls and borrowed some... but not my job). pro guy did it, and will stick it to the scumbag landlord (liens are popular :>)

mechanics? oiy. there's too many stories of the bad stuff. it's annoying as hell when it happens to US. still, there's a lot of good stories, the miracles, the saving throws, so a little slack can be cut. just not so much when it happens to ME :>
