I'm staying here

First of all, this thread in no way is critical of those friends that have left the forum lately. I like and/or respect 99.99% of the folks here. And that's a much larger percentage than life in general. I just wanted to say that even with the changes that have taken place here over the years, and change is always inevitable, this is the first place I come to when I log on to the net. I've never met a nicer bunch. It's like family, we don't always agree, but when we have to pull together, we do it. It's just something I felt I had to say. Many thanks to Bill, Rusty, Yangdu for starting the forum. Thanks to Yvsa, Howard and Munk for moderating after Bill and Rusty's death. And much thanks to Nasty for the very nasty job that he has been asked to do.:) Also, thanks to Sparks, for giving us this house to play in. Last but not least, thanks to all of you, my friends, that make this forum what it is. Not perfect, but one of the best places on the net.

Steve

I won't be "leaving" either. I'll be lurking more than posting, but I won't be leaving.

Steve, you're just a rebel. I likeit. When's the affleray?

I fully agree, BF is very much like a family from all over the globe. We all have our differences which makes for good conversation. We all get hot under the collar once in awhile particularly in places like the political forum, but that is healthy too. Change is happening everywhere, including BF and we just carry on and keep it going forward. I look forward each time I turn on the computer to share some time at this site. It is also a wealth of information, and a bit like a never ending knifeshow.

Y'all know that I have always lurked much more than posted (I should have kept my old screenname, "QuietOne"), and I can't even remember the one before that. I've started my post count from 0, a couple of times. I originally started posting back in 1998.

I respect everyone's decision, regardless of whatever it may be. But, I'm not giving up just yet. I will hang around.

I still miss everyone that has walked west and I am reminded of their endless patience and compassion. When I think of them, my decision is still clear. This Indian is going to hang around for a while longer.

Thank you for your continue support, Steve

I too lurk more than post. I'm just sort of quiet and don't really have an impact on the forum anyway. But I have limited time to be on the net and this is where I go first as well. There are always good people hanging out and it is almost always civil. A lot of good info passes thru here. I miss some of the old timers, but I enjoy the new guys as well. Change happens and you go with the flow. Your a good man Steve, I have always admired and respected you. As long as people like you are hanging around, so will I. And whether I am here or not, I will always support HI.
Terry

Steve, I admire what you have done for HI and the Kamis. You always manage to keep an even keel during the sometimes stormy winds of change.

Terry, I respectfully disagree with your comment that you "don't really have an impact on the forum anyway." Sometimes the daily jewel I take away from this place comes from someone who posts infrequently, but thoughtfully.

I'm here...and other places. This has never been the only forum that I'm on and never will be. I have a lot of interests. If I was going to leave here the time would have been when I was banned but I try to always leave the door open!

I too wil be staying but can't make any promises that i won't stray into other yards. I have noticed that I tend to check here first while doing my personal reseaching. This is a great place to find information, help a friend, or simply hang out.

Oh, I visit other forums as well, like www.vikingsword.com, Ramanon, Swordforum.com, knifeforums.com. It's just that this feels like home to me. This is where I'd come first to share either great joy, or great sadness.

Steve

I think most of us are a bit, er, promiscuous.:D I've a couple of other haunts too, and my participation in each of them varies with the tone of the places.

Look at my joined date....If I was gonna bug out it would have been long ago.:D

I too belong to a bunch to other forums....so what?
I like this one , that's why I keep coming back.

I too lurk more than post, but I'll be here on a regular basis. I continue to be a supporter of HI and the 'Gentle Lady'. ;) And Steve, 'what Andy said' about that little 'event' of yours.

Mark

Personally, I post in six different forums. I know I'm impartial because I hit "open all in tabs" when I check in. :D

Though sometimes it may seem like your favorite ax (or khukuri) has had 4 new handles and 3 new heads, the Cantina is still the Cantina. Literally once a roundtable of good guys, the culture will become lost if it is abandoned. I've been silent on this for a while, watching some respected long-timers go. It's a personal decision which I respect and I believe we'll meet again.

You can emigrate to another "country" but it will never stand for- or take the place of- the one you left behind. I had an epiphany, a life-changing realization here once. Members in this forum gave me a lot of help at a time when I needed it. Now, I may have a karmic debt to repay for my changed life, or maybe I just want to see how it all turns out. Maybe I just don't know how to erase bookmarks. :p But I'm not leaving.

Like restaurants, you have a choice- and may grow tired of the same food, now matter how good. Menus and management may change, other diners may annoy you. Variety is always good. But I see no real reason to permanently leave. I've read *every single post* in here for years, and I never "ignore-listed" anybody, even BF. :grumpy:

Good to see, Steve, that you post here and other places. I'll see you here and there!

Mike ;)

Although some may wish I would, I'm not leaving...I've tried to...Yangdu says this is my dharma work, so I guess I'm stuck.

Yeah...when's the affleray?
