  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I recently discovered the song 'Heavy' by Collective Soul. Which led me to discover I like a lot of their music. I missed out on them in day.

Oh wow. My band played this, probably about 10-ish or so years ago. We did mostly classic rock, but this was one of those moments of dipping out toes into some head-banging. I did that opening riff on a gnarly fuzzy synth lead, while the guitarist wailed the solos over it. After rehearsing it a few times is usually when we headed for the shots of 100 proof Jack. Great times.

Definitely a jam song.

I used to sing Interstate Love Song by STP. Played the guitar for it too (never quite got both down at the same time though). One time I was at a karaoke bar with my band mates (we practiced a number of times, but never ended up actually playing a show together, as this was just before my 180 in lifestyle choices), I got up and sang I am the Highway by Audioslave. Problem was this was the front man's go to song at karaoke, and I beat him to it. So he got his revenge by going up and doing my STP song. I felt bad for doing his song after that. 🤣

I would offer up Yellow Ledbetter for the set list...

Reasoning:
-good jam song (we can make it as long or short as tolerated😆)
-not sure that the words have ever been the same ever, also works with mumbling
-in reality, does have the format to support some crazy guitar solos, if someone wants to step up!
-simple enough that I could play rhythm as needed...🤣
