For carrying all day while hunting, I use a bearcat with a shoulder holster. Very light.
It hits a bit to the left, so I just hold a bit to the right. Practice makes perfect. I've shot enough sparrows out of low-hanging branches to know. But for snakes or anything that would bite you, the range is close enough to hold dead-on.
I like the single-action for reloading a round or two in the cold with stiff fingers.
There is no comparison between Rugers and other single actions. Ruger coil springs never break. Half of my others have had broken leaf springs. One gun now has two broken springs in it (hammer and trigger-return).
