And i mean one of the high end ones, not like the tenacious. I've always bought cheaper knives because i'm younger and don't have a job. But now i decided i am going to save up for one. Right now i am really liking the caly 3, but i would like to hear everybody's opinion.

Sage I
Sage II
Paramilitary
Gayle Bradley

Cant go wrong with any of those:thumbup:

A Caly3 is a very nice choice. I have a UKPK, which has the Caly design, and love the ergonomics of that knife.

What you really have to ask is what do you need the knife for? Is it going to be an EDC for light to medium tasks? The Caly 3 fits the bill nicely. So does the Sage.

If you like to clean your knives, then you might want a knife with screw construction (so you can take it apart). The Caly 3 does not have screws so the Sage would be a better choice in that regard.

Hell, if you want a more affordable knife with great steel, get a FFG Delica/Endura. They have VG10 blades (like the Caly 3), screw construction and nice ergonomics as well. I think that would be the safe purchase for your first Spyderco.

Military and Para Military turned into the must owns for me once I handled one. I had actually gone to the store to pick up nice Benchmade 950 Rift, but while waiting I started playing with a Spyderco Military they had on display. I fell in love with it right there, but it was priced outta my on hand spending cash. I bought the Rift, which I still liked, but 2 weeks later traded it for a Millie, and I don't regret it at all, this thing is awesome. The Para Military had just as much of a wow factor for me. I won't give up these knives for anything in the same price range now. To me, they just prefectly represent the essence of Spyderco.

aargh!! i just realized that the caly 3 doesn't have screw construction, and i don't like that. I think i am leaning towards the sage I now.

The Sage 1 is a good knife. I have to admit I had to get used to the aesthetics of it. Aside form the carbon fibre (which is really nice BTW) I was never a big fan of the appearance of the Spydercos. Now I really appreciate the ergonomics of it and the cutting abilities of the full flat grind leaf shape blade. It is a little larger than my typical EDC but its thinner profile and deep carry pocket clip make it easy to carry.

Either Sage is a good choice, Caly3 is also a good choice. I recommend the Stretch II Carbon Fiber, one phenomenal knife.

There are prototypes of the Caly3.5 and ParaMillie 2 in the works. Just FYI. The new Caly has a longer blade and the new Para has a reshaped handle for better ergos and will be tip-up and tip-down.

The caly is a great knife, and feels absolutely incredible in hand, and I have have fairly large hands

My first Spyderco was endura, I don't think you can go wrong with the endura or delica to start with.

I don't know why, but Enduras and Delicas just aren't appealing to me at all.
I know that they great knives and don't cost too much, but i just don't like them. Maybe its because i'm not a big fan of FRN.

There once was a knife called the Sage
Whose lockbar would always engage
Whose scales were so fine
It just had to be mine
I could go on for an entire page!

comes in several variations if you really wanna go high end get the Carbon Fiber ZDP189 Version :) such a beauty oh and its FFG too :)

Do you have a Tenacious, if you don't I would spend the $35 or so on it, it is a great Spyderco and a good EDC. For a "higher" end knife I would go for an Endura. I carry one every now and then and I love it.

BRADLEY !!! very good knife for small money.

Sage 1 gets my vote. You can get them for sub-$80 nowadays and IMO it's a near-perfect design - great ergonomics and fit and finish, awesome blade shape and steel, beautiful CF handle material with the perfect texture, stellar deep-carry pocket clip, very light . . . what's not to like?
