Imitation Benchmade knives?

What's with this company on the internet. They offer Benchmade Crooked River knife for $30. Since I figured this was a measly amount, out of curiosity, I ordered and received one and it appears to be a close copy. The blade has the Benchmark logo which is probably illegal as is the entire knife. I can remove the logo and pass it along to the young teen next door since I have several quality knives and he can put it in his fishing box, the kid loves to fish with his dad.

The Clone Wars all over again. Enjoy it for what you want for it, but it will bite you at some point. I seriously doubt it is the steel it says it is on the knife. Clones are a very touchy subject here, for good reason. “Real they are not, trust them not, young, SkyWalker, for they will lead you to the dark side.”

It's a straight up clone. The Benchmade Crooked River is made in the USA, and Wish is based in China and many of its goods are counterfeit. FYI clones and counterfeits are not taken to very well around here.

So you wasted thirty bucks AND you supported the clone makers...go punch yourself in the face
As I stated originally, it was just a curiosity thing. Not being familiar with all this stuff I just wanted to see what it is. I definitely have no plans to
buy fakes or imitations in the future. Since I'm a new member to the forum I was wondering what the forum members had to say and if they had experience, now I know, thanks.

that's very good!
anything else would have been a death wish.

for the record, I own 2 REAL Benchmade knives and when I saw the offer on Wish, it naturally made me curious. I also own several
REAL quality knives, Boker, Spyderco, Buck, Dawson, Bear Ops, and a few more including a custom made Dave Yellowhorse Buck Kalinga.
Frankly, I think I have taken somewhat of a "beating" here simply because I have a curious nature and also the desire to learn. The comment about "punching myself in the face" was improper in my view. Never-the-less, I planned to become a Gold member and that hasn't changed.

LOL! Well, you certainly discovered that there is no gray area when it comes to counterfeits on this forum!

But this is an easy thing to learn, and an easier thing to avoid in the future now that you know.

Lots of other stuff to learn as a member of this forum that is much more fun and interesting, so do stick around.

Lol yeah you learn real quick even mention fakes and counterfeit knives brings out the best in the people on this forum. Just do a search about it on here. This topic has been brought up, beat to death, buried, reincarnated and beat to death again over and over.

Actually, I'd say you got off easy. But the day ain't over yet :).

I'm not going to beat you up, I think you've gotten the message that counterfeits are very much frowned upon here (to put it lightly), and for very good reason. They hurt the knife community that many here value, and many people get ripped-off by purchasing knives they are led to believe are genuine, but turn out to be fake.

Reading your opening post it really does come across to me as both an advertisement and and endorsement of the knife and the place you bought it. It might benefit you to change/edit some of the language. I cringed just reading it.

Years ago, I bought some knives from a new company, their name rhymed with gonzo. The knives were original designs, but a few years later I discovered the company was stealing Benchmade's Axis lock and using it in other knives. I was not comfortable owning knives from a company that was ripping off someone else's invention, so I dismantled the knives and threw them in the trash. That's how strongly I felt on the subject.

What you do with your knife is your business. At the very least I hope it serves as a valuable lesson, both in terms of crappy counterfeits, and peoples feelings towards them on this forum.

As a brand new guy around here I had no knowledge that this was a forbidden and disliked subject and I had no reason to search history, it never occurred to me, now I know. Thanks,
Paul

I didn't intend it to be an advertisement or endorsement, I'll take your suggestion and try to edit it if I can figure out how.
Thanks for your comments though.

Thank you for your courteous reply. I took the advice of one of the other members and completely edited the original post. I hope we can all put this to bed and get on to more knife fun stuff.
