Impinda out of production?

The impinda never really interest me. As far as slip joints go I would rather have a GEC. For some reason it just seems like it lacks a soul or something. I really like the PJ Sebenza/Inkosi but idk the impinda is lacking character.

I stopped in the CRK showroom a few weeks ago (I don’t live far away) and asked if they are sill making the Impinda, they said “Yes”, they had orders for 1500+, but it would be a few months before they made a batch of them. They also said they would have Magnacut blades.

I know, stupid question since it's obviously listed on CR's site. Nevertheless I've been looking for months for a dealer who has an Impinda in stock and it is and remains out of stock everywhere. Estimated re-stocks at my past dealers get postponed every month for another four weeks.
Is there a reason for that? Sebenzas and Inkosis are still in stock at many dealers...
I know Chris Reeve knives have always been in high demand but in the last 20 years I never experienced a shortage like this.

Thanks!

Would that also mean the back spring would be magnacut as well? The one I have is S35VN and the blade and spring are the same steel. The Impinda would qualify as a salt water knife then???

I didn't ask if the backspacer was also made from Magnacut, just if they were still making it and if the blade was going to be Magnacut. I don't know what the pivot or screws are made of to say if they would be a "saltwater knife".

Does anyone know if it’s still the case that the Impinda isn’t discontinued? I have one and I love it, but I haven’t seen one new anywhere for several years, and the birth cards I have seen are at newest 2019-2020. I bought mine a few years ago from a dealer, but it was sitting on a shelf for a while and the birth date was in 2019. Does someone have one or at least seen one with a birthdate in the past year or so? The lead time according to CRK is 4 years but have they just basically not made any in that time? Maybe they will have a huge batch go out later this year? I wonder what blade steel it would be, possible magnacut since I don’t think it was made in S45?

Call them on Monday and ask.

From what I understand it’s still in production.

You can still order them direct
But likely will take years to be filled.
My guess is they just haven't made a batch recently. It is not their most popular model.
Lead times are about 4 years

Have you tried a AB Rinkhals ? It's the best of both worlds IMHO...

At first I was not interested in this model. Once I saw the video of it disassembled and the thought behind the design I am warming up to it. It has been a long time since they have been available though. I might try one if I can find one on the secondary market for a reasonable price.

I have one that hasnt been used. Its such an intriguing knife that i cant get rid of it. Thinking about sending it in for glass blasting to add some sophistication,
