Well guys, we got the good ol' days back, but things still kinda feel, uneasy. We have almost 6,800 members here right? Well, lets assume that only 3,400 members participate activly...well, that's still 3,400 people.

What I'm getting at is this:

I will donate $25 to BFC via credit card, IF 100 more forum members will match, or beat it. We could do this once a month, and lower the number of required people to say, 50 or 25. What do you think? Shall we get started? Will this even help Spark? It's a long shot, I know...but if every little bit helps...

Who's with me? Does it sound reasonable to do this every month with a minimum of 50 or 25 people? Is it not worth it?

After the 100 people are met...we can all get in touch with Mike or Spark to make payment arrangments. Theirs no way, or desire to "make sure" you pay...so we'l just have to go "on your honor."

Thanks guys. I will try my best to bring the good 'ol days back. I am truly sorry for any problems I may have caused or any hurt feelings.

I try to do what is right, Spark takes all the heat, we both get caught up in the fight and sometimes only make it worse.

There is no book, no course and no mentor in what we are doing. So we try things first and in some cases we make great strides foward in new territory. In other cases we step on our collective Johnson.

We do admit our mistakes and move on, but we would not know our mistakes without making them first.

Enjoy the forums and what we have here. I know I do. You guys are the greatest and right now I don't have much going right in my life but this. So it is important that I keep this site going in the right direction, for me as much for you guys.

Thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it.

I, like Spark, am not really comfortable with the donation aspect. I truly appreciate the gesture and I guess if you buy a bag or a hat or something that would be a way of helping out.

Other than that, sit back and relax. No pressure on the members here as I have plans in the works to make this site ROCK!

I made many promisses when I started this site. I broke one and now I have made good on most all. I have some ideas and a few good people have contacted me with some really kick ass ideas and ways for me to implement mine.

One idea will be launched in the next few days and it has the blessing of several manufacturers who frequent here.

Stay tuned.

Mike, that all sounds real good to me, one of the things that I've not gotten comfortable with yet and don't see me doing it in the near future is credit card purchases over the internet, so what I'd like to do is to email an order in and get a total cost and mail a money order down to you guys for the following, to help out and to get some neat stuff;

A hat
A bag
White Lightening
Torx set

Thanks Mike and I truly hope things work out in your personal life as well as out here in Cyberspace...

G2

(well that was easy, just entered my order with the option of payment by money order, will put the money order in the mail tomorrow, thanks again, everyone should at LEAST get a hat or two!!)

Just got my email from the Store, but I need the address to mail the money order to, thought I'd mention that so you can that info to your Bill.

Jackyl - sounds good to me. I'll match your $25 for this month.

Mike/Spark - I'll mail a check to you tomorrow.

Thanks again guys.

Sal, I expect to see you in a BFC hat

Have fun and most importantly enjoy this site for what I originally intended. I will make an effort to bring back the good 'ol days. Stay tuned.

Here is a copy of a post I made at KFC.

Guys we screwed up and as many of you now know we have adjusted.

What is industry needs is sign that we can all work together towards a common goal. Towards that end we have extended our hand to Jim and others in a effort to grow the on-line knife community.

Jim has turned this site around and I applaud his efforts. KFC holds a certain affinity for me and I met many of you right here when for the most part Spark and I ran this site.

I try to do what is right, Spark takes all the heat, we both get caught up in the fight and sometimes only make it worse.

There is no book, no course and no mentor in what we are doing. So we try things first and in some cases we make great strides forward in new territory. In other cases we step on our collective Johnson.

We do admit our mistakes and move on, but we would not know our mistakes without making them first.

We run into problems here and there and the nature of the Internet allows all of you to see how we handle it "LIVE". This makes us really have to work under pressure as ever move we make is scrutinized beyond that which most could imagine. You can't please everyone all the time and for some you can't please them anytime. The over all objective is to move on and forward.

Some people say to not look back. Well that is not smart as sometimes to see where you are going you must remember where you have been. When I drive I always find myself looking in the rear view mirror and when I see someone riding my ass I have a choice, I can slam on the breaks or move to the side and let them buy. But neither are really my nature so I may end up racing them. Right now I have the faster car but that can change overnight if I am not careful.

Am I saying that KFC, or BSF or any other site is a competitor? A year ago I would have said no but based on recent events and copies of emails I have received I now see that I am a target and with that in mind I must view everyone as a competitor. It is up to the management of these site to determine if they want to be friendly competitors or not.

Most net dealers who know me also buy from me and me them. I have shared inventory with 888 Knives R Us, John @ Cumberland and Mark at MJS and others. Most businessmen would think that is pretty darn strange. But that too is my nature. If you view yourself as a competitor, just because I am racing you doesn't mean I am your enemy, only you can decide that.

This will make sense to some and others will view it in a different light. What is important is that the members of all the forum sites feel at home wherever they are. I want everyone to be happy and while that is not possible it can at least be a goal. Whether you post here, at BFC, at BSF, MH, or TF does not matter. What matters is that you are happy.

I am not a religious person so what I am about to say will not make any sense to some and please don't try to convert me. I am 33 years old. I am sterile and can not have kids. I will never experience some of the feelings you all have experienced. I am going through a divorce so if you have been there I now know how that feels. I have about 20-30 years of active life left. I don't believe anything will happen when I die other than I will no longer exist so it is extremely important to me that my time here is well spent and I and those with me enjoy the ride.

I am sure when I was talking to Jim on the phone, while he was negotiating trying to buy KFC, he probably wondered what in the hell I was doing trying to help him. Maybe he felt I had some ulterior motive. Maybe this will help. When I was doing Gun Shows I always found that I did much better in sale when I had at least one other dealer selling the same items there. The other dealer did better too. So in that regard it is important that KFC stay alive too. We both need traffic to justify the ad dollars. No mystery there as all of this, and any business venture, is a numbers game. We need members, hits, unique visits and other stuff to help promote our sites.

At last check BFC gets about 380,000 400,000 hits a day and KFC about 60,000-80,000 and BSF averaged 11,000 this month and 58,000 in the four days after Patrick posted on my site. We were BSF's #1 refferer. I would be foolish to allow that kind of action to continue so I made adjustments.

The business decisions we make are made for a reason. I have the interest of BFC to protect and my goals are different than Jim's or Patrick's. Jim has the interests of this site to protect as well. I am not sure what Patrick's goals are and I will not wait to find out. I must react to situations as they present themselves. He made a tactical business decision to open BSF and he did so at a perfect time. He took advantage of a situation that we left open for him. Is that wrong? No. So why the fuss? It was how he did it that created problems. Just like how we sprung the classifieds on you guys. That presented problems for us.

Life goes on and we will all endure. Spend time where you feel comfortable but most importantly enjoy the short time we have here on this wonderful planet. Life is too short and before you know it you will be that old fart you used to make fun of. Many of you are old farts now

Take care of yourself and the ones you love.

Jackyl,
Great idea...... I think $25 for the last ten months I've enjoyed this site is a DEAL!

Mike & Spark,
I think it is obvious you guys have done quite a bit....... I've only had occasion o email you guys a couple times but have been absolutely amazed at the quick responses I got. Especially the one off the WOW site. You weren't kidding about that every 15 minutes! I know there has been a lot of stress and conflict and from my position I really don't know who is 'most' right or wrong on any of the recent topics....... The one thing I'm sure of is that I've enjoyed the HELL out of this site and met some cool people along the way. You guys can do what you want with the money. Use it to help the site or simply donate to your Church, Local Groups/Charities, Clubs, etc that you haven't been as 'active' as you may have liked because of time spent doing 'whatever' for BFC.

Have to wait till Friday but I'm in!

Sincere Thanks,
Shawn

I'm in for $25.00.

If I spent this much time anywhere else, I'd have to pay rent....

Well, theirs 6...94 more to go. I know at least 100 people watch this forum...you've seen what happens when Mike asks for a number between 1 and 6,800.

If my 100 mark is unreasonable...I suppose I could drop that to 50, but that shouldn't have to happen ya know? Thanks to all the above.

Jackyl,
Count me in also, I have saved much more than $25 by buying knives from people I have come in contact with because of this site so I think it is a great deal.

I'm in.

Something that we've done at TKC-L is to put a trailer on the messages that each day lists a "sponsor". When we ponied up for last year's nut, I was out of work and couldn't contribute. Boy, when I kept seeing the names of everyone who helped keep the list going - without my own ever showing up - I really was compelled to get myself a job and send some money!

I think if there were some type of "sponsor member" indication, like the old "senior member" designation, it would really help point out to folks just who pays for their daily knife reading fix - and who makes hundreds of posts without contributing.

It would also help to add a "sponsors only" forum. Nothing goads people better than thinking they're missing out on something!

I've learned more about knives in the short time I've been on this site than if I would have spent hundreds of dollars on reference books, or hundreds on blades that were useless. 25 bucks to help keep this going? You bet, count me in. Let me know where to send it. Ok Ohio Knife Knuts, show your support!

I'd like to do this, too. Is there a PayPal account I can credit? That would be best for me.

Thanks

Cuchillo

The Pay Pal account is paypal@wowinc.com

I would really rather you guys buy bags or something. The hand out thing is fine it's just that it makes me feel weird. So if you want add $4.99 and get a bag

Excellent idea! I'm in, and I echo others when I say to Mike - this isn't a hand-out. I'm paying for knowledge and fellowship I couldn't have gotten for much more.

I'm also placing my first ever 1sks order even though I'm a customs-only guy.

Guys, this is really weirding me out... but again, I'll reiterate - we'd much prefer that you get something physical for your money. As such, we've struck a deal with Camillus to bring you guys a cool knife for dirt cheap... we're calling it the first knife in the BladeForums.com Buyers Club.

This way, you get to help us stay open, while getting something in return for it. Check out the thread I just started -
