In another thread in this forum it was stated as fact (but not by me) that Himalayan Imports bought khukuris from the Khukuri House, a dealer in Thamel, Kathmandu. This is a totally erroneous statement.

If any dealer in Nepal makes the claim that he provides khukuris to Himalayan Imports he is doing so because this provides him with the highest possible recommendation. The only problem with such a claim, if made, is that it is false. And, I defy any dealer or anybody else to offer proof of such a claim.

Himalayan Imports has never bought khukuris from dealers in Nepal and we never will. The reasons are primarily because dealers do not offer the kind of khukuris we want. There are other reasons which are compelling which I will not expound upon.

I thought with the pictures I had posted over the months it was clear to everybody that we make our own khukuris and therefore have no need to buy from dealers. Perhaps I should bring these posts back to the top again.

Khukuri FAQ

I don't think there's any need to do that, Uncle. I think every member of this forum knows that you speak only the truth, which is the reason this forum has the loyal following that it has. No need to dignify these untruthful statments by bothering to further refute them.

I'm new to HI, and I still haven't recived my first khukuri, but I always found it abundantly clear that HI always makes their own khuks. Except for the villagers of course. The reason that I choose HI is because they make the khukuri themselves, and the people doing it have been doing it for generations. Anyone who has visited the website or this forum will know this.

I'm also new to HI, but from talking with you Uncle Bill, and reading all the information on this forum, it's clear you don't buy from dealers. The quality, and the number of models you offer, plus the custom batches done says it all. Also, what impresses me, is that you help your Kamis and families out. I'm proud to own a HI Khukuri. Iknow it will not let me down when things get tough!

???

You've piqued my curiosity, Uncle.

Pakcik Bill.

Just play cool pakcik!

I just started buying HI Khuks since the beginning of 1999 ... BUT ... I think I can visually differentiate those HI Shop#1 Khuks OR HI Shop#2 @ Bir Gorkha Khuks OR Visiting Kamis Khuks OR Village Khuks! Certain intrinsic values are in each and every Khuks and I believe our sensitive eyes, feeling and spiritual insight within us can always judge which of which! So far ... Genuine HI Khuks are always able to tell their own identity by themselves ... even without any supporting docs!

NEPAL HO!

Dyeedoh Bill,

In the time that I have dealt with you, you have always acted in an exemplary manner in our mutually respectful relationship. If anything came up, it was dealt with appropriately. I remain a very satisfied client.

Not to worry, Uncle Bill... Though I'm new to the forum, I can see that your reputation is based on a solid foundation. You wouldn't have this kind of customer loyalty and friendship were this not true.

I hate to sound redundant with what has been said already, but I am sure no one familiar with you or your products gave the claim that you purchased khukuris from a supplier a second thought. In our dealings, you have always been painfully honest and above board. It is inconceivable to me that the origin of any of your knives would not be as represented.

I also have to say that one of the things I enjoy most about the Himalayan Imports Forum is the knowledgable and critical group of customers who post information on the site. I have learned a lot about khukuris as a lurker. They have always recognized the difference in quality between HI khukuris and those available from commercial sources. If your products are no different, your customers must be capable of incredible self-deception. I think this claim is a disservice to them as well.

All I can say is that you shouldn't take this claim seriously. I am sure none of us do.

Never any doubt up here Uncle

To anyone who has followed the information you have posted about the Kami's and the factory this would obviously have been a false statement. But I guess there are those who have missed that.

Keep up the good work Uncle, those who have been around a while know the truth.
