Important Wilderness Book List, help me create...

I thought I would drag up an old thread with an idea or two.

The Outdoor Survival Book (?) By J. Wayne Fears

The Boy Scout Fieldcraft Book, probably one of the best.

------------------
Hoah! (Its an Army thing!)

Few more:

Sea Survival: A Manual by Dougal Robertson (currently out of print

).

Celestial Navigation by Jeff Toghill. Have not seen yet but on my check list.

McPherson books.

Thomas Elpel's field guide.

Best,

HM

Ed:

You should be reading "Trail to the Interior" RM Patterson - about your old moose hunting country Telegraph Creek - Watson Lake down the Dease. Some awesome survival stuff in that book.

Also let us not forget, "How to Sh!# in the Woods", it is a real book also, and very informative about sanitation in the wilderness.

Another great book is< "Wilderness and Travel Medicine", by Eric A Weiss, M.D.

A small book(4.5 x 6.0 inches) but full of good sound medical advice in its 198 pages.

"SAS Survival Flickbook", John "Lofty" Wiseman. A smaller, waterproof condensation of Lofty's classic intended to carry in your rucksack. If Barnes & Noble are out they will order it for you without shipping cost-
$13.

This is a very cool book:
Primitive Technology: A Book of Earth Skills
ed: David Wescott

------------------
Hoodoo

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.
JKM

No Surrender: My thirty year War, by Lt Hiroo Onoda.

He was one of those japanese soldiers that live in the jungles for 30 years, still believing the war is still going on. Has a chapter of the survival trickds he used.

Big-Target>>>>>I'm not called that because I'm an anorexic midget!!!

"Primitive Wilderness Living & Survival Skills: Naked into the Wilderness"
John and Geri McPherson

I'll get their second book Primitive Wilderness Skills, Applied and Advanced, also.
More on my list...
The Oficial Pocket Survival Guide
The Official Pocket Medicinal Plant Survival Manual

Nice list Mick!

Probably I would add Sea Survival: A Manual by Dougal Robertson (currently out of print though). One of the rare sea survival manuals. I have not read it yet but certainly would if it was available.

Other book that I liked and kindled my interest: Paul Tawrell's Camping and Wilderness Survival. More of an encyclopedia format than a manual but richly illustrated and good for kids and starters. Few infos -however- I would disagree on but it is still worths to check out.
