Impossible to find a working design

I'd knock that teat down a bit. The one between the index and middle finger. Not only for comfort, but your handle material will be a bit thin there. Draw filing will smooth the profile out. Lookin good.

Thanks less , you're right it does dig a bit in the finger , I'll take some meat off and try it. I never thought about there being less handle material there , good point. Having a bit of critique makes this design process a whole lot less painful.

Thanks although I'm not so certain this is the design I should of went with for a bush knife. I was looking for an all around knife to carry on my pack or belt when snowshoeing , trapping and hunting. Something to baton with and abuse. I'm thinking a drop point might of been a better call.

You could turn it into a drop point, but you'd lose some length. What are the dimensions?

The blade is 4" long. I'd hate to lose anymore blade for batoning. It's silly why I went with a spear point really. I've processed game with spear point knives but I'm not a fan of it. It's an ongoing battle trying not to puncture anything. I guess it really is impossible to find the perfect do it all design! I'll keep researching the threads and ordered a book. Hopefully my next one will be better thought out.

I've heard it said many times,"if it does two things good then it doesn't do one thing great". The more task you try to accommodate in one knife, the less effective it will be at each. Pick the most important task(s) and design the knife for that. It's tough to chop down a tree and clean an animal with the same knife and it preform both adequately. Knock the tip back a little and give it some more belly. 1/2" would do it. It will be a good all around knife.
