Impressions of Dean El Diablo

Steven I lived on sheep meat for 8 days. That trip was along one three flights and then an 18 hr jeep ride offroad to base camp. base was at 135000. the rams live as high as 18000. I shot this one at 16000 ft Pamir mountain range Tajikistan border of afganistan nov 07. As in all time great trophys this ranks up there but I have some african heads and north american rams are way up there on my list of memorable hunts. But I will never get bored of chaseing whitetail bucks right here at home with my bow. thanks for the congrats on the ram I am very proud. It was a long dream getting there. I had a Neil Blackwood hunter on me that has seen it's share of action and a carbon bowie in my pack

Don't you just love it when perseverance and determination and pay off?

Great trophy and thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys for all the kind words . Here is a pic of my El Diablo along with one of my favorite Wilson Combat .45's. Happy new year

Kevin sheep and especialy mountain hunting is all about the high's and the low's. Sometimes it is all dissapointment when you just do not think you can climb anymore and you watch that big ram disappear but if you persaver there is no greater feeling than to grab a massive set of horns and no you worked for it.

JParanee, do you want to adopt a middle aged knife knut? I'd be proud to call ya Dad if you take me hunting with you and let me play with your toys!

Seriously, that is one gorgeous ram! I hope you have many more successful hunts like that. Both the Dean and Wilson 1911 are gorgeous too. Nice gun leather you got there by the way.

OK, JP, now I'm really envious... nice carry package you have there! Mitch Rosen gunleather? <drool>

Hi Anthony,

Ahh, ok. The ostrich looks nice anyway. Those grips look primo too. Maybe it's just JP's trophy photo playing tricks with my mind but looking at the texure on the bottom I can almost make out a bearded man with a mountain peak over his shoulder. :D

Bladeandbarrel you are right it's wilson leather and thank you all for the kind words. I love 1911's and bowie's. Happy New Year and yeah mongo we can go hunting. Paul Long just sent me an email and the sheath for the El Diablo is not his. He is going to be doing some sheath work for me in the near future useing some dyed and tanned cape buffalo skin I have. It must be a Kenny Rowe sheath but I am just guessing. It is not marked. Sorry about any confusion.
