Impressive new knife

I received the Versa model today and here's what I find. The blade has a very different profile and grind than the Gamut. The thumb stud is a bit closer to the pivot making it somewhat harder to open one handed, so that's a minus in my book. The blade of the Gamut is also a fraction thicker at 7/64" (measured with a steel rule) than the Versa's blade at 3/32. I'll get a more precise measurment when I dig out my digital calipers.

From the blade back, they are virtually identical (forgetting the tiny thickness difference) and have a nice swell in the handle for a comfy feel in the hand.

I think the coating may make the Versa better for use around salt, but overall, I like the Gamut better. I think the orange will make it easy to spot in the tackle bag or if dropped in the bottom of the boat.

My Versa came today. It is flat out a well executed, quality made knife. I like it despite being made in China.
One small issue is the small thumbstud that is a bit hard on the finger. No worries I'll open it two handed.
I would highly recomend it.

Agreed about the thumbstud. Even though the one on the Gamut is the same size, it's easier to use and not as hard on the thumb, I believe because of it's position further from the pivot. Just that tad bit more leverage seems to have made the difference.

I really like the looks of the gamut with the orange handle. i think this will be my next Knife! Thanks for sharing your impression Plumb...:)
