Improved tool rest

Hi, The first photo shows the new tool rest I constructed for my KMG. The problem was that the tool arm got in the way of my left hand when grinding. The second photo shows the modification I made today which lowers the rest by 1 1/2 inches. This is a real improvement. The tool bars are aluminum bolted together with 1/4-20 bolts 3 1/2" long. Thanks Chuck. I intend to use your idea for a cylindrical rest also. I just have to talk my welder friend into welding a 3/4 steel round to a piece of 2 inch steel tubing so I can adapt the rest piece to my existing rest. Thanks for the great idea. Larry
