I do have a "real" strop, yet I still happen to strop on my jeans, when I am watching a movie or working at my computer.

Used paper too, but prefer a "real" strop over that.

Just ordered a strop and some compound from Knifecenter. Thanks, Paracelsus, for the tip! Now, any tips on how to use it? I specifically bought it to strop my new Big Country Kampr, which is convex ground and recommends stropping as the preferred method of sharpening.

Hey AlaChoctaw!
What kind of steel is used on that Kampr?
I can't seem to find it on their website.

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid!

The Kampr is made of AUS-8, hardened to about 56-57 Rc. Blade is 3/16, convex-ground. It is a very serious knife, with a shoulder-slung sheath with multiple carry options. At only $99, it will compete with knives selling for a lot more, IMHO. I probably won't get to really use it until this spring when I plan to do a bit of easy hiking.I'll have more to report then.Hope to have a Becker Campanion by then too, and may test them together.
