or drag it off the stone at the end of the stroke.
The tip should be treated separately.
There are some better explanations on YouTube.

Every knife owner should have a Sharpmaker. I also like the UF rods to go along with it. I dont always use my Sharpmaker everytime that I sharpen but cant imagine not having it.

What do you mean by this?

he means if you pull the knife down and at the same time all the way across and past the stone like Mr. Sal does in the video it will round off the tip eventually. stop before you get to the point of the knife. easier than it sounds. this includes the corners and the flats of the stones. both will round the point or tip of the knife....eventually.

edit part......
also i have been re-profiling with the ruby, mold master and res-cut congress stones and working on up to the uf stones.....it does a pretty good job. getting a perfect mirror polish on the bevel is not impossible but harder due to the slight angle differences of the stones. yet still easy enough to make getting a 40 degree inclusive secondary bevel sharp edge happen. once re-profiled on the 30 degree side, that is. pretty it's not, but sharp it is.

i've been working on a buck vantage in 420hc and i got it about mirrored perfect using congress and the spyderco stones. only issue i'm still working on is the tip.....having to remove allot of steel to get it to 30degree inclusive.

Ok guys I just got my sharpmaker but I haven't opened it yet... real life has been extremely busy :(. One last question though, will I be able to put a convex edge on my knives with this? Haha I have no idea but I hear they're quite good.

Short answer: no (if using like how the DVD tells you to use).

You can get convex edges fairly cheaply with multiple pieces of sand paper with increasing grits and a mouse pad.
