In 1999, how many knives have you bought, and how much have you spent?

With the way knives are piling up around here I can't even remember when I bought what. In the last 5 weeks I have gotten a MT Camo Socom,2 Spydie Matriarchs, BM Niramvus,CF Lady bug,Al Mar auto Havanna Clipper, and a Rekat Sifu on the way.I have found that it is better to not count the money spent, because if asked you can honestly say "I don't know how much".

At the beginning of this year I owned a HALO ll and two BMs, in addition to my regular hunting knives. As my education and obsession grew, I now have 6 Spydies, 3 RJ Martins, 3 Mad Dogs, 2 Chris Reeve fixed blades and a Sebenza, 2 KFFs on the way(one used, one new with BG42 blade with sharp false edge on the part of the blade that folds in), a Bob Lum, 2 Keith Colemans and probably one or two more that I can't remember now. Easily $5-6,000 so far this year and the New York Show is ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!!

P.S. The enjoyment and pride of ownership that I receive is many, many times more than the cash paid for the pieces.

Only around $500. With the amount of four-digit numbers floating around here, I feel inadequate!

Grrr.. I'll get even..

Lemme see...checks clearly identifiable as knife purchases (might as well 'fess up to those, no way to get around a cancelled check)- $1200. Buried among the credit card receipts, probably have to own up to those if questioned - $450. Cash purchases - oh, really none I can remember, honey! (Memo to self - need to write more and bigger checks for cash

).

7 Knives=just under $2500 (All Customs)
No production knives counted. I only bought 3 of them- gave 2 away and lost 1.

Two knives, a Benchmade Ascent 845 and a CS Bush Ranger all total for just over $100. Couldn't be happier.

I don't know how much I have spend and don't want to.

I do know how much I have saved!

My savings - compared to store prices in Finland - are now 700-900$ but will rise to 1100-1500$ at the end of year. I'm a finance guru

!

Oh yeah I forgot the first part. How many: too few - about 15. Spydies, Benchmades, Kershaws and puukkos.

My wife and I have an unwritten/spoken agreement. As long as I got it without having to draw on common funds there's no problem. If I need to draw on common funds and she likes it then there's no problem. Anything outside of that requires negotiation. Luckily she likes good knives, took a day of Bob Taylor's class and spars with me and others to stay "sharp" and has made several custom knife makers and combat practioners as pals. As Will Fennel will tell you I'll never be deserving of a partner like this.

Take care,

Mike

43 knives, totalling $2800 from Benchmade, Buck, Busse Combat, Camillus, Case, CRKT, Gerber, Leatherman, Meyerco, Ontario Knives, Pat Crawford, Spyderco, and Swiss Tech. Soon I plan to get a HI khukuri as soon as I spot one I like. I'm very curious about these.

Jeez, good exercise, but now I wish I hadn't done that!

Now, I'm trying to figure out a way to carry them all so that I always have the perfect knife for each job!

I thought for a minute Uncle Bill was out of the Hospital and back on the job, it seemed too good to be true.

To answer your questions you can work out that deal with most of the dealers here, it's called a Credit Card!

Where did this come from?

I though we gave Uncle Bill a few knives to keep this thread quite-like.

I think around 12 knives consisting mostly of Spyderco and Benchmade with a Ka-bar D2 and a Random Task thrown in. I sold quite a few of my cheaper knives that I acquired when I first began collecting, so it didn't hurt the pocket book too bad.The cost was held down quite a bit also, because I bought a Battle Mistess and a Project One the year before.

Hmmm....McHenry, Steigerwalt, Pease, Vallotton X 2, Reif, Osborn, Ralph, Chew, Turnbull, Erickson X 3, Miller X 2, Crawforn, Carson, King X 2, Griffin, McCarty, Hajovsky, Microtech, Graley

plus filler...
