In 2025, Is Talonite Still A Thing?

I never owned Talonite, but owned Deloro Stellite 6k blades. Kit Carson made me a monster U2, 1/4" blades out of it. I sourced the stellite directly from Deloro. Stellite has been used in many industries, including Turbine blades, ship canon liners and quite possibly the toughest use of all, open pit mining rock crushers.

Cobalt based alloy knives were a thing for a short time in the late 90s early 2k. . Problem was the machining of it. Casting or forming was easier, but machining was horrible. Kit Carson used more belts making my knife than he did making several steel blades. He hated working on it. Rc was in the mid 40s if I remember correctly but it behaved like it had a high Rc. Toughness was high. Density was higher than steel and hence weight was higher than steel.

Pre BF we use to have lots of discussions on Rec knives and KF regarding the alloy. That's all I remember.
