In Defense of Finger Grooves, pics

oregon those knives are groovey, man!:thumbup: When I order a custom it's gonna be a finger groove one.:)

With time and practice I have overcome my fear of fingergrooves. I'm all right now (he repeats to himself over & over). When I look for cutlery I search out those with FGs. Buck's FG customs are like jewels in the royal crown of get exactly what you want/need excellent cutlery. I couldn't be more tickled with FG customs I've received.

UUGH:barf:, just couldnt help it, could ya Tom:). Actually I cant believe it took that long for someone to be punny:p

No, not custom . Its a standard model 186, Buck mfg. those back in the late 80's . (excuse me Oregon)DM

Oregon,
Is the one with the split ring and pocket clip custom? If not what is the model number?

Thank you kindly DM for your welcome assistance.

That Buck knife is my most incredible $60 pawn shop find: Titanium Buck 186. The back story, about the American version of 007's "Q" and his hand in this knife, is as incredible as the knife itself. Hanging off the split ring is the assembly tool. Here are a few pics for your amusement (note: the symbol, arrow head pointing right, indicates a mfg date of 1987):

Sidebar: Many on the BUCK forum know the 186 on sight. When I picked it out of the low ebb cutlery in the glass display case in the pawn shop full of police a bell went off in my head. When the LEOs left I handled the knife, saw the BUCK tang imprint, smelled/hefted the titanium and bot the knife. Then I came to this terrific forum for answers where you find me today.

PS: I think that I need a S30V blade to swap into this, user serviceable, gem in order to spare the original blade.

Hmmm.... I think I need to review the evidence before I make any decisions, better tell the wife to put dinner back in the oven.

Yeah, I like finger grooves on 110s:thumbup:.

I knew he'd do that to you ... Messed you up -- right before supper ! Now, the wifes got to listen to it . DM ;)

It is my pleasure. Thank you for looking.

That, yowza!, is a gorgeous FG 110. Wood at its best (Ironwood?). Now THAT is a knife.

Koa Flamewood and it makes a very nice scale indeed.
