Abita isn't bad at all. They make an Abita Red which is really good. Right around the corner from me Abita has a restaraunt called Zea's. It is awesome! If you ever visit, it is a must. Fresh micro-brewed beer and great grilled and rotisserie. I have a real enthusiasm for boats, beer and big knives.
And the crisis intervention team over at Medical says...... Insert speach from Charlie Brown's teacher.

In heaven there is no beer and so we drink it here!

Pretty out there. I take Reyna crabbing and fishing out at Bayou Lacombe and we've "camped" at Fountainbleu. One time she caught this really huge wter snake in her dip net. Funny as could be, after I realized it was more scared of her than her of it.

...BEER...I'm glad Rob Sarnowski brought this up :)

So what is your beverage of choice???

Personally, I favor the Belgium Trappist and Abbey Ales. Westvleteren Trappist Ale is the best(IMHO).
A Black&Tan (50% Guiness Stout/50% Bass Ale) is great on draught in the pub. In a Lager, Hmmmm, maybe Steinlager (New Zealand) or Samuel Adam's Octoberfest. Lastly I wish to nominate for arguably the 'world's best all around beer' ...Hale's ESB draught (Seattle), to summize this beer's personality succinctly, let me borrow the words of a connoisseur "This beer is freindly to everybody" :)

"In heaven there is no beer"........only Guinness.........."Nectar of the Gods" atleast that's my opinion.:D

...That's why we drink it here...

You guys are gettin' me thirsty! ;)

Anybody who likes those Belgian ales should come to Catoosa. I'm bringing the closest thing made in this country. Close enough that those nasty Trappists hired a hardball attorney and threatened to file suit.

Personally I prefer a good Belgian kriek or framboise(cherry or raspberry beer), but am open to a good bier de gard or dunkelbock or altbier. Now if I could just get a hold of a good Munich Helles recipe(ultimate lawnmower beer), I'd be one happy fellow.

For a real treat, try Old Skull Cracker (Britain) or Delirium Tremens(Belgium) or Duvel(Belgium) or McEwan's Scotch Ale(Scotland) or Samuel Smiths Taddy Porter(Britain) or Oatmeal Stout(Britain).

Now if someone could come up with a good version of Samiclaus(Xmas beer)....

:)

I've given up on beer as a regular drink. Makes me too fat. I just gave all my beermaking equipment away to a buddy.

I was reading a translation of Plato's Symposium, and a footnote explained the old Grecian preference for wine mixed with water. I tried it and I like it. I use about 20% Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% ice, and 70% water. (I know Socrates probably didn't use ice, but I like it.) It's pleasant, the fruity flavors of the wine come through really well, and it doesn't get you too drunk. Good on a hot day or after a hard Judo workout.

Another mixture I've been imbibing is constructed thusly. Make a tea from fresh mint and lavender. Refrigerate. Mix half and half with Cider Jack raspberry cider. Add ice.

Well, I don't think I'll ever go to heaven then.
When in the US, I use to ask a Killian's Red and forget it is called beer as - just like most beers are served there - it is served too hot to my Brazilian taste.
I also like Heineken when I am there, but the first thing I do when I am in the plane back is to ask for a good Antarctica or, if I am very lucky to find it, a Bohemia, the later quite a strong beer.
Guiness is coming to Brazil now and they have to make their beer colder to be accepted over here. I never tried it but only heard good things about it - I am waiting for its arrival, now.
By the way, beer is the only tpe of alcoholic beverage I ususally drink.
See you all on Monday - I am going to Porto Alegre this weekend to practice a little of my long forgotten german. And drink some Polar beer, of course! And maybe even see some good Gaucho knives...

My taste buds like bitter beer best. India Pale Ale has about the right amount of bitter for me. The IPA that I can get locally is brewed by Goose Island a Chicago brewery. Beer and Kuk's---does it get any better. :D

I lean that way myself, Tank. A little bitter is better to me.

KC? That's within easy striking distance for the Catoosa convention. Think you can make it?

..."lawnmower beer", sir???

Lawnmower beer is beer you pour into your grasscutter in lieu of gasoline. Surely the HI Safety Officer would not combine alcohol with the use of any cutting tool!
