In Memory of CW2 Matthew G. Kelley

My wife joins me in thanking you all. First to Moose who started this thread and then to all who have commented or who will comment. It is a hard day but your support helps more than you will ever know. As I read this thread the first time this morning tears came to my eyes and that does not often happen.

I know many of you have served or are serving in the military and for that I thank you. And my thanks to everyone who serves in any capacity of public service which contributes to our safety and freedom.

Perhaps one day I will have the privilege of meeting some of you in person.

Thank you again.
 
My heart and thoughts are with you guys today. From what you two say he seemed like a great guy. I am sure the time you had with him was a blessing and that he still lives on through his friends and family. Take care today guys.

Prayers and smoke sent guys. I appreciate the sacrafice that he made to this country, because of him and others like him we can have freedom. If either of you need an ear, I'd be happy to lend you mine. Be strong today guys and remeber the good times.
 
Thoughts, prayers, love, respect. Thank you for those who give so much for all of us everyday. There is a special place in heaven for those of you who have have payed the ultimate price for freedom, That price not only payed by the warrior but also by those he loves and leaves behind.

From those of us who've served and didn't pay such a high price to those who benefit by such grave sacrifice, we all deeply express our condolences for your loss. Thanks and prayer of support to the Families - Mom/Dad, Brother, Wife and Children - all bear the price.

I am so sorry for the heavy loss you and your families have endured and will continue too.

On behalf of my family and I thank you for your sons sacrifice. The pictures you posted show that you remember the great times as well, and that is what helps get you through a loss as significant as this.

Heartbreaking. The picture of him walking with his daughter completely wrecked me.

I don't know how they do it in the Army, but where I'm from in the Navy this is the Sailors Prayer;

A short poem for sailors

Sailors pray,
For fair winds and a following sea

The smell of salt in the air,
The feel of their skin as it's touched by the spray

An albatross soaring above,
Dolphins in the ship's wake at play

To witness a work of art that only God can create,
The sunset at the end of day

At night a million stars in the sky,
Safe anchorage in an islands lee

When the time comes to die as for all it must,
