hi gang, i have had a BWM since febuary. its a great knife, and ive gotten plenty of use out of it to the point that i decided to strip it a couple weeks ago to end its coating's misery. but its purpose is more in the light duty area in terms of chopping. in my opionion its not the best choice in cutting limbs of 2-3 inches and up in diameter. so im wondering what bigger choppers you guys would recommend. size and weight are not an issue. basically im looking to designate the BWM as my "small" busse, so what should my large one be? i got until fall before fire pit season resumes at my house, so should i wait until the next "large" offering comes around?

Like 230 said the NMFBM is the main Busse chopper. I'm not too sure Busse is ever going to make more of them. Only Jerry knows the answer to that question.
But if you watch the Ex they usually pop up for sale from time to time.

Got to be the NMFBM, it'll give you enough of a jump up in scale from the BWM.

Well, if size and weight aren't a factor, a MOAB would be the ultimate chopper

The only thing that gives substantial performance over the BWM in the lineup is the NMFBM, or maybe Killa Zilla. Both can be had off of the exchange.

I've found the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie knife to be extremely efficient when it comes to branches 3-5 inches (Approx.) in diameter. Even the smaller-in-weight usmc ka-bar utility knife works pretty efficiently. However, I've recently done a review on a blade made by Gerber which may be more geared toward the thickness of branch you are looking to be chopping, if it's more your style than a heavy bowie knife.

You do realize this is the Busse Combat User forum right? Great first post!

You forgot about the CGFBM. Or even better, the FFBM, which is very close in performance to the NMFBM with it's .30 or greater stock it is a beast of a chopper. Swing it for a week and you'll end up with forearms like this guy:

CaptainWTF, an appropriate name. This is the Busse Combat knives sub-forum. Welcome. Gerber reviews are probably better placed elsewhere :D

To the O.P. : Pick up an NMFBM LE!

I think anything in the FBMLE, FFBM, or even CG FBM would fit the bill.

The NMFBM, and LE version will be the ultimate for out and out chopping. The KZ, with a good edge refinement would also be top of the list, but they are not as all around useful as the FBM series would be (I still want one).

I would keep an eye on the exchange and jump on a bargain.

with my BWM:thumbup: !! What be a GURBURRRR !! My BWM is like a TIMBERRRR:eek:- great knife IMO-Thanks:)
