I need a knife maker who would make a unique knife design who does stainless steel such as 440c, N690, or VG-10.

I would tell you, but judging by the first photo it looks like you might want this knife for stabbing yourself, (actually, this knife kind of makes me want to stab myself- in the eyes) and I just can't be a party to someone hurting themselves like that.

Besides, most of the knife makers I know are pretty stained already, and there are none that I know of named Tony Stark.

I'm not planning to use it on the out doors (especially not on me) it's a knife i just want. I also don't appreciate rude replies on my post.

First of all, I see you are relatively new to Blade Forums...... Welcome!

Once you have an opportunity to get to know Lorien, you will find he is one of the nicest and most considerate members of this forum, and not given to rude replies unless in jest. You may have missed the humor which I noted immediately.

Now to address your knife. If you like the general style of the knife pictured, then I suggest you contact Nathan Carothers (Nathan the Machinist). He can probably fill your need expertly. Ironically, Lorien can facilitate your search for Nathan as they're good friends and have done collaboration projects. In fact there is a link to Nathan in Lorien's sig line.

Paul, you are FAR too kind :)

Oh! I'm sorry lorien. I've dealt alot of jerks in the internet and everything seems like an insult.

seriously, no problem. I'm curious about the rest, though; did you mean you've 'dealt alot of jerks in the internet' or that you've 'dealt with alot of jerks in the internet'?

Rude comments Lorien. The OP asked for help, not a smart ass critique.

Chuck

he asked to be referred to someone who would make a copy of a replica of a knife from a video game.
I didn't provide a critique, I provided my opinion and, yeah, it was a little rude. It was also tongue in cheek.

getting back to the op, who would you suggest he contact for this project, Chuck?

I love Chuck like an older brother, and Lorien, like a younger brother. You two would be fine together!

Nice to see you around here, Chuck...miss ya!!!!!

Gil Hibben would be a natural for this kind of knife....but he is recovering from a stroke and am not sure if he is taking orders. Maybe Joel Davis?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I think of Gil Hibben more for Star Trek ala Klingon warrior type stuff.

Steven- clear out that inbox of yours, bud!

Done, not cleared out per se, lol, but there is some room in there now.

Paulie, Gil has made it all, from Rambo knives to Kenpo influenced fighters...throwing knives, automatics, what have you! And he is working again!

Best Regards,

seriously, do you think Gil Hibben would be willing to make a copy of a pre existing knife? Especially one which probably has licensing attached to it due to its design being intellectual property of a hugely successful video game? As a man whose job it's been for decades to conceive unique designs and then license or sell those designs to entities which mass produce them, for him to engage in copying, (stealing intellectual property) a replica knife designed for a video game is inconceivable!

there are ethical and moral considerations here which are not being discussed, and that irks me much more than having my balls busted for being rude.

Nothing saying that Gil wouldn't a) contact the rights holder for permission or b) make sufficient changes so as not to violate copyright. He's a highly principled maker, no question in my mind that he would NOT be underhanded in his business or even personal dealings.
