In need of some smoke

I am so sorry, but I am out of ideas, and I just need some support.

I am tired and battered, haven't slept in 48 hours, and I'm just running on adrenaline at this point.

My 4yo daughter started vomiting last night at a little past midnight. She went to sleep early, to allow Santa a larger window of time to come by and drop off a present, any present will do, but she's really hoping he'll bring the one she asked for...I do believe he did meet that request. She got sick, and started doing the Exorcist thing, ran down he PJ's, and on top of her brand new bunny slippers. She pulls her PJ's up over her head, and um, well, let's just say her hair became rather glossy at some places. I had to put her in the shower, wipe up the mess, start the laundry, dry her off, and change her. I left her hair dry, while I finished mopping the floor. Where was the wife? She worked yesterday, and has to work today, and tomorrow. Ok, where was I, oh, I was just about to dry her hair, when the Exorcist happens again, only worse! So, I do the whole cleanup ritual above again. Now the wife comes home, and I need to explain what exactly is happening.

For the next 2 hours, my daughter is still going at it, every 20 - 40 minutes. at 3:30am, we decide to take her to the ER. Once in the ER, they give her some Zofram, doesn't quite work, they give her another dose, and she seems to be better, no more vomit projecting, but her vitals are all high. Looks like dehydration was starting to set in. So we had to start an IV, of course, she didn't like that!

During the course of all this, wife and I are up and moving, not having slept a wink all night, and my wife needed to be back at work at 2:45pm (it was now 9:30am). My daughter is going on about she wants to go home to open presents, and that she wasn't able to leave him a note telling him that she was at mommy's work in SF.

OK, now they finally release her at 12:30pm, I race home to let my wife get a shower, and maybe 40 minutes of shuteye sleep. My wife can't drive when she's tired, so I drive her back to the hospital for work, all the while dragging my daughter along too, since there isn't anyone to watch her. Thank goodness my wife's co worker is driving her home tonight after work lets out at 11:30pm.

My daughter still looks very sickly and tired, exhausted, just like her dad. I was able to take all the presents out and get it under the tree and into her stocking, before she came into the house. I was moving faster than the Flash, I'm not kidding.

She wants to open her gifts, I may just have to relent, since she's had such a hard day. I just don't want her to relapse, and I want my wife to stay healthy and safe, I need nothing for myself, I am just doing what a father/man is supposed to do, that is why God put us on Earth.

If ya'll can, a little smoke for their health and safety through today's trying time, would be much appreciated. I believe in the members of the HI forum, and the power we have when we bring our focused energies together.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

All I can say is that hopefully things remain on the mend. It sounds like your daughter is starting to feel a little bit better, which is a good thing of course. It might be best though to let her open a couple of gifts (saving the rest for later), then have everyone get some much needed rest. Being healthy, happy and safe all around is the most important part right now... not to mention you'll all enjoy things better when feeling 100% or close to it. Best of luck. :)

sounds like a case of food poisoning cul, she should be fine since you got her to the doc and got fluids in her; you got all the smoke you need buddy, sending it up from here!!!!

What he said and smoke up from the NW too. Hope she 100 percent real soon. Being sick on Christmas just ain't right.

I've been down a couple weeks but I'm up and around just in time, not 100 percent but close enough.

Kids are resilient and bounce back. I don't bounce back so quick anymore myself but do the best I can, ya know.

Hang in there Cul, Smoke and Prayers going up from here. As with the others, I am glad to hear she is starting to feel a bit better and wish for continued improvement for her, as well as some Smoke and Prayers for your Wife's safe return home, I bet she is beside herself not being able to be with her little one when they are feeling bad. Here is hoping you get a bit of rest as well because those long visits to the ER take a lot out of the rest of the family so I bet you are beat.

Smoke and Prayers UP!

Wishing the best for your little tyke, cul. She sounds like a trooper. All that commotion and a hospital visit, and still all she wants is to open her presents!

All the best to your whole family. Hopefully you can all get some good rest and put this whole thing behind you.

Hey there, hope you're finding North on your compass real soon.

I seen you're in the Bay Area: I started feeling tired with no appetite last Thursday. Saturday I got loose bowel. Sunday, the faucets on both ends opened up if you know what I mean: two exits, no waiting. Went to an urgent care in Berkeley and had 1 liter of saline. That night, I actually had to set up a chair in the bathroom so I could sleep for a couple minutes at a time. Monday, no rest for the weary, couldn't keep food, water, meds down... contacted our physician, who arranged for a hospital admission the next day. Tuesday AM, finally, stop retching and squirting bile... just in time to go to the hospital. 3 liters of saline & some antibiotics, blood tests, etc. Released me yesterday with no actual diagnosis.

So, yes, there is something going around in the Bay Area! You have my full sympathy. I can only imagine how freak-inducing it must be watching your little girl go through it.

I understand, back in 2012, I was on a trip down to Anaheim for you know, Disneyland. My rear opened up like a faucet on full, you know? I was quarantined, because they thought I had c-diff, but after 5 days in the hospital of antibiotics, and who else knows what else, it came back as campylobactor, you get it from raw chicken feces?!!!! They said a raw chicken must've been infected with it, it was at a restaurant in water, some of the water splashed onto a salad, or a dish I ate, and that's how I must've got it. CDC contacted me and wanted to know what restaurants I ate at during a 2 week window! I told them seriously? I eat out almost everyday, not once, but twice. I think I got it from Fresh Choice near 280 Metro Center. That nasty cough, fever, flu like thing was going around about a month ago. Wiped out 32% of the student body in one week at my daughter's school, and yes, we all got it too. It was a bad one, thank goodness, we all got it one at a time.

I'm glad you are feeling better.

Thanks for the smoke and prayers everyone, I don't know, but truly, I feel much more energetic. Enough to get through this night, and start anew tomorrow. Thanks....

Smoke & prayers from here in the high desert of New Mexico, Cul. It's always hard having a sick child, and it's especially tough on Christmas! It just snowed enough here to put a coat of white on the ground - very magical - first snow on Christmas day that we've had in quite a while...

Snow in NM? That is really special! I think SF had a light dusting back in the mid 70's if I remember right.

Hang in there cul. Your not just a good man. Your a good daddy! She will love you forever and never forget what you do for her. Smoke up and take care my friend. Get some rest when you can.
