In praise of ebony: Traditional knives in the prince of wood

Showed this one in the Whats In Your Pocket thread but it works well here as well. May have shown a few years ago but whats wrong with showing off a masterpiece!

Brad, when I saw your Erickson in the EDC thread, I was thinking you really should post it here! :) It's nice to see the company too! :)

Hi all,
I'm looking for a recommendation for some of the beauties I've seen in this thread, but none of them have captions cause you all know them too well  I want something the closest in size to a classic Victorinox; I loved the Northwoods indian river jack, but thats sold out everywhere on the web. Anyone have any other recommendations for something of that size that can slip in a pocket? Uses are whittling, cutting food, rope - just simple everyday things. Could have a clawsfoot, too...

I've been eyeing the Northwoods Presidential. It's got a spear point main blade and a wharncliffe blade for a secondary blade. It's pricey, but unless they sell out I'll get one sometime soon. I'm also still stuck on whether I want the ebony wood or jigged red bone.

Thanks Ron :) I must say, I do like the jet black ebony on the #72s like yours.

Thanks Jake and Bob!!

Here's the last few I have to show. Some #85s and a #92

Top Knives have been shown here, many thanks to all contributors. Been difficult to do much today due to dot defender's malign presence....

Here's a French Ebony about 4" shut in Sandvik. It has a pull and snap on it that would put a guillotine to shame:eek::eek: Mechant:D

GEC 56 Dogleg, Spear master. Ebony has some interesting stripes on this example.

Will - A very lovely knife my friend :) An often neglected pattern, which I happen to appreciate very much :D:D
