I got one from Peter Atwood. He very kindly responded to some email questions and I got a S30v bead blasted prybaby in very quick order. I highly recommend one for anyone who (1) likes gadgets (2) likes quality work (3) doesn't want to break your EDC (4) wants a good bottle opener (5) all of the above. I haven't used it to pry, baby, but have opened bottles, scraped paint off a window and most importantly, used it as a mini-nunchuk to whap my office manager when he tried to grab my keys away from me :D

I would like to try the titanium version. My only (very small) concern with the S30v is that its a thick piece o steel and its a little heavy in the pocket. How much lighter is the titanium version?

I have a titanium version, and really love it. I don't have a S30V to compare it to, but it is really light, as in barely noticable.

As a matter of fact I used it lastnight to get into my car after it froze shut with all of the rain/snow we got.

I just got one of these:

Prybaby's next. :D

It's a David Winston damascus key knife. I would like to get one of those soon too, look like great little knives.

Love that Winston piece! Neat tool and a cool sheath. :)

Thanks for the kind words folks! :D

Peter, it's guys like you and david that weigh my keys down :) , I remember the days when my keyring only had a house key and a car key with a fob that I kept a quarter in for an emergency phone call. :)

Ok I've read about the prybaby a couple times, at some point I will own one, but I have a question. Is the Ti better simply because it is lighter, or are the properties of Ti better for the purposes the prybaby is intended for?

Yeah, but that's a good thing right? :D Wait until you see the new whistles........ ;)

Well let's see some pics :)

BTW I didn't mean to redirect the thread, Peter your Pry Babies are unique, any chance you'll be makin' the ones with the diamond hones on the backside again?

I can't directly comment because I don't own a Ti one. I would guess it would not be "better" than the steel one, but I think it would be somewhat preferable to me, given the tasks that I have used the prybaby for, since it would be lighter. I don't know how much lighter, however. The steel is a pretty thick chunk of metal, I don't know if the titanium is the same thickness.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can justify buying both and I am very happy with the one I have. You should buy the titanium one and try it out and post your results here ;)

I wouldn't say that the titanium version is necessarily any better than the steel. It is lighter, titanium has a coolness factor associated with it, and they can be anodized in some cool looking patterns that you can't do with steel.

I guess it is as much a matter of personal preference as anything else really. I am sure both work equally well, but I opted for the titanium.

Hi Peter-

Is that more of a "nostalgia" whistle along the lines of what a British Bobby would carry, or can it crank out some serious decibels suitable for use while hiking or stored for emergencies in a bug-out bag?

It looks like a nice pealess design, so it should blow water/contaminants free. Let us know your thoughts on this design. Thanks!

He's said it is pretty loud. I've got one on the way, so we shall see.

All I know is it hurts my ears and pisses off the wife so I must be onto something......;)

Yes, it is loud. They are made of 303 stainless steel and Delrin so they will last pretty much forever.
