Well I was out taking a walk in the area I'm planning on hunting this Friday for opening shotgun season here in Illinois. I came across a hunter from Pa who had taken a 10pt Buck.We chatted for awhile and he asked me if I would consider giving him a hand dragging the buck back to his truck that about 2.25 miles. I figured why not. Its my day off and I had to go that way anyway to get to my car. Well when we got there he asked me If I wanted the buck. He said he was planning on donating the meat anyhow and figured why not ask me. Well of course I jumped on it. He kept the hide and head for a mount and I got the meat. Here is where the praise comes in for the AG. I figured this would be a good time to compare a few knives. I had a few other higher priced knives and the Buck Ag 110 actually outcut them. The other knives didnt do bad but two of the other 3 had to have the blades touched up several times and even when sharp didnt seem to cut as easy as the s30v. I've had this knife for almost 2 years and keep becoming more impressed when actually using. What a sweet knife. As most folks know mine is stag.. Buck needs to make a 105 or 102 in s30v, that would be awsome.

Kyhunt, Buck already did. The model #'s are 905, 903, 902 and 919. All in S30V w/ mirror polished blades and upgrade sheath They also have nice walnut checkered handles w/ a lanyard hole and signatures. You should see them they're nice knives. DM

There is also an 805SS 5 inch fixed blade in S30V that does an outstanding job.

HUMMMM. Are these still made or where they limited edtions?

Yes..were LE's signed and numbered. 1,000 per number so there are still some floating around out there.

I plan on using one of the 805's during the holidays if we make it back to the hunting place. I just wish it was slightly longer instead of its 5 inch blade. but seems that 5 inches maintains some legality in places.

It's hard to use something as pretty as it is, but, going to give it a try. Actually the few I managed to grab wern't much more than a CS 110.

would put up a pic but it seems photobucket has changed up something and made it more difficult for me to find them.

The model #'s all start with 8 but close enough!

Its not to hard to use them ;)
I really love using mine! ;) I have the 802, and I found an 819 online while fishing the bay, they are very nice knives! Well worth the money (IMHO) but for users they could do without the engraving on the blade. It is definately something I can live with though. I'll try to get some pics up tonight of the 802. Enjoy the AG, its definately a great knife for use!

See Kyhunt you kindness offered up two rewards...a cooler of nice deer meat and a excuse for using your AG110. What could be better?

A new excuse to look for one of the other s30vs. I need to send my vanguard in for a good sharpening. After this I think its coming off the display.

in looking for the 8xxx series, make sure it has SS following the number.

There is an 8xxx series that are similar but not S30V.

As promised :D

My S30V AG 110 and S30V Rush along with the S30V 802SS (signature series)

Sorry the pics ain't very good....

PR is also right, there was a 805 and 819 (HH Buck and son) made for Bucks leaving San Diego years back, it was etched and engraved on the handle.

You just simply need more Vanguards..:D:D
I like this thinking as well! Its a great fixed blade! Keep an eye out for the "other" steels as well ;)

What is a Buck AG 110? I have a Buck 110, but have not heard of this type. I saw some Buck knives in Cabelas catalogue that were s30v, but I don't know this one. Any help with this.

It is the Cabelas Alaskan Guide (AG) that has the S30V blade ;)

Oops, I answered my own question, almost. Alaskan Guide in Cabelas.:o

Yes they are sweet knives. Wife and kids bought me the stag a couple of years ago for Christmas. The bottom 2 are the Cabela's Alaskan guides that I use. The top one is just for looking.

It's funny because I almost bought one of these a couple of years ago. I got a Cabela's gift card for Christmas and I got a catalogue to find what I wanted. I chose the Danner upland game hunting boots for $215 plus $15 shipping. $230 boots. I love them. I was going to buy the stag s30v Buck because I had $150 gift card. The knife cost about that then. I now have a $250 pair of Red Wing boots for work and hunting. They are not steel toed, and are very comfortable, and the leather is soft, but tough. I think the buck Ag 110 is one of the most classy knives out there. I like hunting knives. The look of that stag is beautiful. The s30v like my spyderco Native, is very good steel. I will be looking to get a Buck AG 110 in stag very soon!

Cabelas still has the stag its gone up but only $5 more than it was last year.
