In regards to the RC5 sheaths...

We are fervently pursuing both a Kydex and cordura sewn sheath for the RC5 at the current time. We have a small supply of the Eagle sheaths left but when they are gone we have decided not to reorder or do business with Eagle again due to problems. We were VERY sorry not to be able to continue doing business with Eagle Industries but it was really our only choice if we wanted to be able to supply product in a timely fashion. The cordura sheath will be very similar (read nearly exact) but with slight upgrades here and there. If things go like we are working for there will be a nearly seamless transition from the Eagle sheath to the new cordura sheath.

The Kydex is in the proto type work now and won't see production for another month or so. We are working to make the Kydex match anothe proto type we have for a MOLLE back for the RC6 sheath. It all sounds like a mess right now but I promise you when all this hits it will be for the better and you will have many carry options for both RC5 and RC6. Mike

That sounds promising. As the RC5 sheath is now, I like the Eagle sheath but its too bulky. I would rather have a more compact Kydex. Cant wait to see the new sheaths.

Can't wait to see them! I think most of us are willing to wait for the results, even if it's painful sometimes! :D

Our deal with Eagle is not as much about where the sheaths are made, instead it concerns their business practices dealing with our company. Like I said, I would rather not elaborate except to say we are done dealing with Eagle. We wish them the best, but RAT Cutlery is moving on.

To be honest when Jeff announced the RC5, before he gave any specifics on the sheath (I think they were still hammering out the details), my first thought was "That'd be perfect for a short Spec-Ops Survival Sheath."
NorCalMtn2 seems to have had the same idea, except with the Combat Master. :D

Jeff, maybe you could contact Survival Sheath Systems, he still has the Spec Ops Survival Sheaths. I don't know if he bought up their remaining stock, or bought the rights to it, and is still having them made (he's been carrying them for a while), so you might be able to supply the knife with those by hooking up through him or Spec Ops themselves. Just a thought. IMO that kind of sheath is ideal for the mission of the RC5.

Spec-ops still lists the Combat Master on their website.

Not sure I undrstand you Punishment? Mike
I think he's looking for a flap over the pocket to hold the contents in.

Exactly, the current setup is just the strap, leaving the sides of the opening of the pouch exposed. How about a flap attached to the strap so the opening is completely covered?

Spec-ops still lists the Combat Master on their website.

Understood, but here's the Combat Master:

The Survival Sheath is a slightly different animal, using a zippered pouch, with a strap to hold the zipper in place and a fastex strap to hold the flap on. It's a better, albeit more expensive, design, IMO.

I have the RC-5 with the Eagle sheath and like it a lot. I also have a HK USP Tactical that Eagle made the soft case for and its also nice. Its ashame, they seem to do good work.

Bear in mind that nothing has been said here about moving the Eagle sheath operation in Missouri off shore. As far as I know the Missouri plant where sheaths are made will continue.....for now. RAT Cutlery just won't be getting sheaths there. I understand about the flap now and don't see why we couldn't fix that. Mike

The Eagle sheath is by far my favorite sheath, as shipped with a new knife. I was kinda hoping they would starting offering Eagle sheaths all the RC knives. : (

I think the smaller offerings are better served with a kydex or IM system but the dream isn't dead. Like Jeff and Mike said, they're trying to find a new supplier.

I would also like to have the Cordura option for my son's rc 4. He did not dry it off after fishing, last Saturday. I believe a sheath from Cordura would have dried and prevented some of the rust, plus the grommet in the bottom would have drained some of the water out. The barricade, anti rust gun spray, protected all but the edge where it had worn off. The rust was easily removed by sharpening, so all signs of character as he called it, have been removed.

Yea, well, if you say that than you gotta say those pesky Alaskans are americans too.

Not me, no sir.

:D

Alaska is a state and the citizens pay income taxes just like the rest of we citizens of the USA. I can't say that either of these are the case for the citizens of Puerto Rico.

When did we make Alaska a State? Is that the 57th state? :D
