In the arena... Gladius vs Chevy Truck Hood. (and railroad tie)

I'm not convinced...

Pry open both locked doors on the Chevy and the locked front door to your house and come back here with the pix...then I'll be convinced!!!

;) :D:D

Nice beatin', Tim!

Tim that's the 93 chevy turbo hood i've been looking for!:D That Gladius is one bad azz sword not even a dent or roll. Very impressive thanks for the test and sharing.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
I'm very entertained. Keep these threads coming. Can't wait for mine to get here.

VERY awesome, Tim! That thing looks mean just standing still!

I wonder if I could get one in PURPLE? ;):D

A girl's gotta dream...

To everyone, thanks for your comments and if you have one coming, you won't want to let it go ever!

That is awesome Tim! Love it...

Glad you liked it... I thought about jamming that skinny ash in there too.

Man I have to thank you so much for all your posts about the Gladius!!! I have been showing all my friends and coworkers all of your posts because they show all of what the sword that I am about to have can do!!! Really informative!!!
What's funny is he is "trying" to beat it up but the dang thing just beats everything it touches up and the Gladius show no damage!!!
Just when I think the forum is getting boring...Tim always comes along and makes it exciting again!!!

Thanks, I do what I can. This sword does everything I ever wanted in one so I am sure you will not be disappointed with yours either! The toughness surprised me as doing this with some of the chopper sized blades resulted in dings to the edge. Only this and my FBM LE have been this tough on sheetmetal.

Your training progressing it is nicely.:D

Well, since you are one of the original INFI users/abusers I take that as a compliment, master Buy Bacon!

Yup, if piglets were Jedi, Dave would be my HOG yoda. :p

You're a hard sell Jaxx. LOL I don't have any extras of those things around to spare or you know I would.

Sorry, you can have it for free after I am done with it but it's gonna take A LOT of work to look usable again. Yeah, after I wiped it off it looked like I hadn't done anything at all. Anytime on the testing/sharing... it's too much fun not to!

Great! I will do that, and it will be worth your (and anyone else who scored one) wait.

I hear ya. Shh.. Don't tell anyone, but if purple was an available option I might switch color loyalty. It's my favorite color as long as it is the darker shades, not into pastels.

All mechanics should own a Gladius!

They work great opening a hood. :D

Funny you should mention it. I was outside doing this when you posted that. :p

There is more to come. Since I have no trees to spare here in AZ I chopped all the way through an 8" x 8" railroad tie that is probably close to 80 years old or more. My uncle got it back in the early 80's and he said it was really old then. Stay tuned!

Maybe I'll see you at the A.G. Russell Knife Show, Tim. I live in Arkansas and I'm gonna try my best to make it! Maybe my Satin Gladius will be done by than and Amy can just take it to the show with her and I can't just pick it up. I guess we'll see!

The next contender in the arena is a well seasoned railroad tie so old that it no longer looks like it was ever treated.

Ok, so we know the Gladius works great on sheetmetal. So, how about something a little more likely to need it for in an emergency. In another thread someone mentioned cutting down a tree with the Gladius and I don't have any to spare down in the AZ desert heat, but I DO have some old 8" x 8" railroad ties. When I say old, I mean these are well seasoned, dried out to the point that they look like they were never treated or else they are so old they never actually were. Under the first inch these things are hard, and I'm talking the heart of the tree making the truck hood feel like butter kind of hard. I could have been done almost 10 minutes faster if I went non-stop and skipped messing with the camera which tells me I could down a similar sized tree in about 15 minutes or less if it was not so hard as this wood.

These pics are in the order they were taken from 7:22 pm to 7:49 pm Pacific time. However due to poor lighting conditions as the sun was going down I used Paint Shop Pro 8's "one step photo fix" to make them look more realistic, but nothing else.

The Gladius and railroad tie eye each other up. 7:22 pm

Finding an opening, the Gladius pounces on the tie and takes its first 6 vicious bites, then stands aside to view the carnage. 7:24 pm

Convinced the tie is still hanging in there, the battle ensues, each time the Gladius looks for the best spot to attack with brutal force, but this tie is a tough old veteran. 7:25 pm

But the Gladius slips away to ready for another attack. 7:35 pm

The grappling ensues which turns the tie to expose a new weak point. The crowd paces in anticipation of a winner (so dad can throw the ball) 7:37 pm

After taking advantage of the new vulnerable spot, the Gladius pins the tie. 7:38 pm

Then the Gladius crippled the tie leaving it below 50% of it's full potential.7:43 pm

The tie rolls over to protect its wounds, but the Gladius is going for the kill. Poorly timed 3 shot sequence all at 7:46 pm

So as you can see, it is a perfectly capable tool for taking down trees or anything else made of wood. This was all done one handed and my right arm is letting me know it, but it feels good. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed making them!

Great pics Tim!!!
NOT only did I enjoy THEM but I also LOVED the narration/story line!!!
I could actually picture them going at it in the arena!!!
GREAT STUFF!!!
Thanks for sharing some more beatings!!!
