A guy lost his dog a while back and it had a GPS tracker collar on it. I went out to investigate the area around where the signal was lost. I knew of the area but have not been down in there for 10 years. There have been a growing number of Cougar sightings within the last several years. There were always some sightings even when I was a kid. It is very frequent now even though the state denies their existence in Southern MO and Southern IL. I knew of a cave back in there that was in close proximity to the where the dog was last detected. I took my Camera along and snapped some pics along the way. I was alone so I did not go in the cave but I am going back with a buddy at night when the animals are on the move. I could see with my lite that it opens up into a big room around the first corner. It was like the jungle out there this morning, hot and humid.

I know it sounds crazy but there have been a half dozen Black Panther sightings over the last decade. One being my Grandmother last September. She saw it at about 50 yards plain as day. Freaked her out.

I am a cautious fella.....

15 minutes on the ATV and it was about a 1/2 mile from there to the destination.

ATV, guns, knives, caves, waterfalls, possible panthers... this thread is full of awesome, I want to be there right now!

Great hiking area

Ever find any tracks???

I have never found any personally. There was a guy that made plaster casts of some very large cat prints a year or two ago.

All I found was the usual Coyote, deer. raccoon.

I am going to set up my Trail Camera in this location and see what is going on in the middle of the night.

That is a sweet area. Whats the water temp like this time of year? We have had some black cat sightings in an area that I hunt north of me too.

Beautiful photos! Looks a lot like here minus all the poison ivy. There have been several sightings of large cats down this way too. So far I haven't found any cat tracks bigger than a bobcat but I keep looking. I hope that DF is still serving you well.

Thanks man, the DF is still tough as nails and sharp as a razor. Serves me well.

Great pics buddy, that looks a great area to explore.

Big cats worry me far more than bears, when I came across this fresh kill a while back I was on high alert for the rest of the hike !

Hopefully I will be able to get back in there in the near future. It will be quite interesting to see how far back it goes and what is dwelling inside.

High Density,

I am out in Chesterfield. A few months back the local tv stations ran a story about a guy who caught a mountain lion on his trail cam IN Chesterfield.

I saw that as well. They are breeding there is no doubt about it.

I have 20 images on my Trail Camera from a couple nights ago but can't get them to upload to my computer. If I get em I will post em.

Here in Northern Missouri theres been several reported sightings , but unless they come up with tangible proof , Im skeptical. I still remember in the 1970s there was a Big Foot reported. Mass Hysteria ensued . There were Big foot sightings all over the area. It was even on the national news. They called the monster MoMO, short for the Missouri Monster.

I know there are confirmed sightings throughout the state but I think most reports come from peoples imaginations.

I'm in west central Illinois, and we have had tons of big cat sightings here. My friends were driving around one time and saw a cougar in a horse pasture creeping around. I heard one roar while I was mushroom hunting once and been sort of paranoid about it ever since.
