In the market for a new EDC around $50, stuck between two?

Title says most of it. I'm looking at the Kershaw Knockout and the Spyderco Delica 4. This will be used for General EDC and I'm just trying to get input on which is more bang for your buck. Sandvik 14c28n vs vg10. Aluminum va frn.

I'm also open to suggestion for other knives in the price range. But please don't go over $55. Also, so there are no repeats, these are what I currently own:
-Ontario rat 1
-buck 110
-kershaw blur s30v
-cold steel recon 1
-spyderco paramilitary 2
-zero tolerance 0350

It seems to me like the two you're deciding between are pretty similar to some that your already own.

Would you mind explaining why you've chosen them or what you're looking to change?

Of the two you are looking at, I'd get the Delica 4, especially if it is the FRN FFG model. Not a big fan of assisted knives.

I too would like to know why you wanted those two models over other candidates in that price bracket.

Honestly, after watching many YouTube videos on the classic "best folders under $50" type video, those two models are always reoccurring.

The Delica is loved by pretty much everyone, and the knockout seems to be a decent beefy knife made by kershaw. Also, I've never dealt with Sandvik before. I assume it's slightly better than Aus 8.

I mean I'm just looking for input. Other than personal preference I can't really say why I only chose those two models. I want a steel other than Aus 8 or 8cr13mov, more to expand my collection, and so I can get used to sharpening knives with different steels

Nice collection! I've got a few of those. Love the Delica, it was an instant favorite with me. Mine has gotten some good pocket time and use in. It's perfect!

I'm not looking for anything in particular. I just want to have a collection of different knives. For example, I don't want two recurves (blur and camber) I dont know to be honest. I just want an edc for around that $50 price point that is the best for that price. Usually I cut a lot of burlap sacks open. One a day (rice coal for my heating) cardboard, rope, fabric is probably the biggest use. I do a lot of maintenance on my car and always find myself cutting up rags to wipe up oil or wiping out a funnel to use for something else.

So I'm just looking for another blade. Any suggestions? Again I'm open to anything really

Depends on what your preferences are. Between those two, I've carried my Delica more. The Delica is quite a bit smaller than the other knives you already have, whereas the Knockout is somewhat similar in size to the Blur, PM2, and 0350. For the size of the knife, the Knockout is amazingly thin (actually just 0.1mm or so thicker than the Delica). The Delica is a fantastic knife and one of my all-time favorites.

Here's a shot of a Knockout next to a Blur:

I have both. The Delica FFG is in my EDC rotation (the HAP40 burnt orange variety) and the Knockout is relegated to a knife bag. Here's why:

1. The Delica has much better grip. I found the aluminum slabe on the Knockout to be rather slippery. It was even a little tricky to deploy from the pocket. The Spyderco FRN feels cheap and light but offers classic, reliable interaction with the hand.

2. The Knockout offers slightly longer handle length but is about 1.5 ounces heavier and like many aluminum knives the weight distribution feels wonky to me.

3. I've tried to move away from assisted open knives and I don't think the Knockout is one that will work with the torsion bar removed. The Delica spyderhole is simple and effective.

There's probably more, but thats just my 2 cents.

Awesome comparisons, thank you. I'm going with a Delica!

Grab yourself a tanto style BLUR while they are still around. I'd go for either the Tiger Striped tanto ($40) or the plain BDZ-1 Tanto ($50). I have both of those and the S30V version too... if you like it already, why not?

I'm going with crufflers. Get yourself a Blur. One of the best knives ever produced for the money. IMO

Buy the Delica. I've never been a fan of A/O's...just one more thing to break.

The Delica is one of the most popular (read "proven") smaller knives around.
