If you were there.. dropped right in the wilderness... hundreds of miles from the nearest road....3 miles from the nearest mcdonalds... with just the clothes you have on you.. and one knife of your choice.. to do all the tasks you may need.. cutting bushes, branches, defending yourselves from grizzlys the size of a small car on its end.. dulaps flapping with drool and enraged eyes as the cost of a big mac has increased 15p. Well anyway, what would you take? I personally would take my SOG tsunami. I have three knives, the other 2 are cheap lock knives but one is very sturdy and well made out of stainless steel the number I dont know or w.e you call it. Anyone got any points for me on the tsunami in this situation or any others any information I would be very grateful for!

Many thanks,

Sounds like a bad dream to me. I would pinch myself just to make sure.Ever realize you were just dreamin and just went with it? First thing i would do is..
this would definately get me banned. So i'm going back to sleep.

I'd take any Victorinox SAK with a saw. That way I can make a big spear for the bear in short order...

What do you mean I can only have one knife. I don't want to play anymore. I'm taking my toys and going home. Oh, ok. I'll take my CS khukuri. Though I would feel just about naked with only one knife at hand.

Im gonna have to go with the CS Kukri as well. I used it today on some pretty tough crepe myrtle in the yard and it sliced and diced and when I finished still retained a SHARP edge. I could have still shaved with it. As to the objections that it is "to big", well, if the small blades had tried to do what I did with this, then they would be long dull and useless assuming they had the proper momentum to cut. Its a big blade admittedly but if you hold the back of the blade you can cut really well with it (Ive made a set of drumsticks with it before).

if I could take any of my toys, the ontario bengal works best...

if I just get to chose from my EDC, I'd take my spydie lil temp... 3" tank.

Okay, Nightfall, I like ya  I feel the same (Usually have at least 3 in the woods)

I wanna know where this place is. Can't get that far from a road around these parts, that's for sure. Danged difficult to get 3 miles away from a McDonalds too. Too many of them.

I guess I'd take my BRKT NorthStar.

Amen! If I had to live the rest of my life with only one knife (heaven forbid!) it would be a Vic Rucksack.
Gene :D

At this point in time, I'd opt for my Greco Explorer. It has sufficient blade length and thickness (9.25" x .20"), as well as blade shape, for chopping and also works well for fine work (takes practice, but I'm learning). The steel in this knife is rather incredible - 8670 industrial steel. Holds a ferociously sharp edge.

In the future, I plan to make a survival knife of my own design and construction; that'll be fun :)

Hey Ron,

I am going for April 3rd class in California. How do you get a hold of Roger, is there a site you can direct me to? Thanks much

definately a wsk. even without anything else surviving would be that hard. the bear would be the biggest problem! fire hardened spear will work though. fire without man made materials is not really a problem in the north woods, neither is shelter or water.

I will also have too say the WSK, ah the knife that replaced the first blood knife. Can't wait till mine is ready!!! By the way Miyaka have you had a chance to use yours more?
