In what direction do you sharpen your knife for self defense?

Always the same, ask a question with knife/self defense in the sentence and out come the boring, unfunny, lame -ass comments.

A knife for self defense lol. Most attackers just drop dead because of my sexy good looks (or lack thereof).

I don't think it makes a difference which way you sharpen, as long as you sharpen it. I dip my blades in radioactive poison gummi bear juice just to make sure my victims are dead.

But you risk they will mutate. Zombie mutant bears... Think what you will bring to the world.

Dear CHAINS...Find ONE, just ONE written testimony that direction of sharpening matters when it comes to killing other human beings and we will start talking serious.

If the purpose of the knife is for self defense I suggest a fully serrated blade.

I think I'll take my 12gauge over that fully serrated blade thank you. That reminds me, I need to get back to work on my microtech otf shooting gatling gun.

Unmatched slashing ability through tough materials and wounds which are a lot harder for a surgeon to repair if the attacker makes it to the hospital.

The fate of attacker in the hospital is NOT the scope of self defence.

It is when you have to face him in court with a lawsuit against you.

It is legal defence then. And believe me - choosing knife that will cause hardest wounds to patch up WOULD NOT help you in court.

But to the point - knife, same as gun, should be able to penetrate enough to reach vital organs, and incapacitate them. So little and so much.

What? You will be facing him in court when you are charged with assault with a deadly weapon if you have chosen something that you feel will make it a "lot harder for a surgeon to repair if the attacker makes it to the hospital."

At least they'll be magically delicious.

Then use a tree saw instead of a knife.

Depending on what material you're talking about, and the type of the serrations, there's nothing to keep the serrations from getting stuck inside the material. Where's your slashing ability then?

You can stab a man with a dagger trashing his organs and he can still fight until he bleeds out. Why not slash through some major muscles, ligaments and tendons incapacitating him instantly.

I'm not here to argue, nor do I claim to be an expert in this subject. You can research the works of the worlds leading hand to hand combat specialists and make your own judgements.

I didn't realize that if I want to defend myself properly, I should cause as much irreversible damage as possible
