In your opinion, what are the top 5 knife brands/makers and their iconic models?

Hi everyone,

I have a genuine curiosity as to what YOU think represent the top 5. This is purposefully vague, as I want the criteria for what makes the list to be your own.

After you've selected your top 5 brands/makers, which model (singular) do you think is the flagship? Again - criteria is purposefully vague. It could be the knife that put them on the map, the best selling model, or just the one that you feel highlights the soul of the brand/maker.

Looking forward to your replies!

Rick Hinder: Xm-18
Chris Reeve: Sebenza 21
Zero Tolerance: 0301 or 0560
Benchmade: Griptilian
Spyderco: Paramilitary 2

I think there has been a similar thread recently. What are we calling 'top' brands and makers? Sales? Quality? Some balance therein?

I would exclude both Hinderer and ZT and replace them with Kershaw (Leek), Buck (110), or CRKT (Carson M16). Lower quality, but more iconic and widespread, I think.

Agree on Spyderco / PM2, Benchmade /Griptilian, and CRK / Sebenza 21.

A thread that so far I agree with every answer all for different reasons!

Looks like so far Spyderco has the most different opinions. Is it really military, pm2,endura, or delica? which one came first?

I think the Military is a distant second to the PM2. They are distinct knives, not like the Endura/Delica where the one is basically a smaller version of the other.

Buck 110
Emerson A-100
Spyderco Military
Cold Steel American Lawman
Benchmade Griptillian
