There's a bit to unpack here, but just wanted to share a negative experience I've had with seller N NiyasDad1629

This transaction originated on BladeForums and involved several shipping delays before the knife was finally delivered. When it arrived, it was dirty and, after cleaning and inspection, showed undisclosed condition issues including burrs, rolled edges, and the beginning of a rust spot at the tip.

I contacted the seller promptly to address the discrepancy and requested a return due to the item not matching the listing. The seller declined and did not dispute the condition issues, but became increasingly hostile. This feedback is being posted for transparency so others can make informed decisions.

Original post had seller describing knife as unused, but carried: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/sold-hinderer-eklipse-mefp.2061761/

Condition received:
Interaction with seller on BF and Reddit:

Edge looks like crap. Like it was ran through a pull through disc sharpener. May want to edit out the sellers PayPal in that chat transcript. Nothing else to add.

I updated the imgur link with our interaction to include our interaction with Reddit mods, who agree on the inaccurate description. Unfortunately seller had the same attitude with them, even after showing seller his own posts that had images of the issues with the blade. They decided on a ban and have him added to the universal scammer list.

seller replies read to me he has no money, so he cant reverse the deal and refund. plus he said he couldn't send any money to help out til he got paid. hence has no money. I expect that what drove his nastiness too. I see this way too often on here. People dont buy and sell knives with money you need to live.

yeah thats a used knife and was improperly described in his selling post.

I find it a bit laughable the seller called you out for having the knife in your possession for a couple days before you reported the issues to him, when he, himself, delayed shipping the knife several times... for which you seemed completely understanding and reasonable. It seems to me, he should have given you a bit of grace as well. At a minimum, it's just common and mutual courtesy.

Another one for the ignore list. Thank you for looking out for the community with the head’s up. . .

I also find it funny the seller "reminded" you that you got a $550-$600 knife for $485.

How dare you take advantage of a seller by accepting the lower price HE offered you for his $550-$600 knife! Damn, LOL... SMH.

Where are the reddit mods saying they can see the edge damage in those pics? Or did he have seperate pics on Reddit. I’m confused. I can zoom in on my iPhone but I’m not seeing anything like you showed.

is what I got for reference. I can't really see the blade clearly from the picture myself tbh, but it does show the rust spot at the tip. I cleaned that part off thinking it was lint, but a tint of rust remained instead.

lol they could have circled any of the other 10000 white flecks and called that damage. Anyway, hopefully this works out for ya. Agreeing with the above that the guy has already blown the money.

Reach out to myself or Blues Blues if the seller contacts you privately.

He was viewing this thread so he’s aware, shortly thereafter he was viewing a for sale thread involving a $500 + knife… priorities I suppose

The knife was not sent out that way and confirming the trade and not inspecting the knife to me is suspect, as far as delaying shipping my daughter and myself were sick, which I made the buyer aware and was in constant contact!! I offered a partial refund to cover the supposed edge damage that I did not cause but was willing to compromise so that it didn't turn into a bigger issue!! I've never nor would I confirm a trade without inspecting a knife, this sounds to me like buyer remorse but what do I know!!

I’m not concerned about the delayed shipping.

I’m however concerned about your description of the knife as opposed to what the buyer says they received.

In all honesty, I can't make out the issues (other than the small rust stain?) from the images posted here in the sale thread, nor in the image referred to via Reddit.

And since I can't, there would be no way for me to say with any certainty whether the defects were pre-existing or not. Therefore, I'm not going to call either party a liar...and can only suggest that it would be best if they could work out their differences in an amicable fashion.

The lack of visible evidence on my end would make me uncomfortable with taking any punitive steps. Boru13 Boru13 , if you see more than what I can resolve on my Chromebook, then feel free to override, especially if earlier images show pre-existing flaws.

Understood but I'm saying that damage was not there and I would think you would see something in my pics showing that and there isnt any!! I have no idea what the Reddit mods were looking at, I've sold thousands of dollars in knives and only issue I ever had was some lint in a Microtech. The fact that this was brought up days later doesnt sit right with me and to me doesn't deserve a full refund!! Why is it no one is seeing the other side of this???

Gonna be a couple of hours before I’m home, once there I’ll take a look on my computer as opposed to my iPhone, I’ll reach out to you afterwards.
