My wife and I seem to get back less and less every year. Last year we got back a little more than $3000. This year slightly more than $2000.

I went ahead and changed my witholdings from Married 0 to Married 1 (at the single rate). Try to do the Dave Ramsay thing and pay off the bills instead of drowning in them them.

Just hope they still withhold enough as stopping the retirement investments will increase my tax liabilities. I'd rather be debt free though.

This year (last year) was the first time I made enough money to require filing and I'll actually be getting a refund. Not much of one, but still, better than having to pay more.

One day they are going to the nest and find a turkey. :D

Could very well be.

America needs scientists and engineers, very badly. And yet it's hard to find good positions and we are making very few new professionals of our own. Instead, other nations are benefitting by hiring away the few we have.

Could be tough times ahead for my country.:(

Every time I find a way to work a bit with the young, I hear that my profession "is just too hard -- there are easier ways to make money." Whatever happened to ambition, accomplishment, and a feeling of self-worth? Why is "easier" so attractive now, when it was anathema to my generation?

[Or maybe, just maybe, I've become an old fogey.]

I think if I was in one of those states that were/are delaying refunds because of their own financial problems I’d be less than diligent about sending in what I owed. Just sayin not advocating anything illegal or anything.

0-1k. I always get back about $600 in Federal and $50 on State. I'd get more if they'd accept my pitbull as a dependent (bastards).

I got back $18.51 out of more than $200.00 that was taken out of my paychecks. The government took my money. I'm 17, and I can't vote, yet I pay taxes. This is taxation without representation.

I got 3900 back, and have tried to adjust that before. I can't change my exemptions to more than 10, without "special assistance" from our HR. Unfortunately, our HR dept. has been contracted out to Cincinatti, and I have no idea who to contact. I've already gotten the passaround from 3 different folks here locally, and none of them know who to talk to either.:grumpy:

I'm trying to do the "Dave Ramsey" thing, but they're not making it easy.

Anyway, I was able to sock a bit of the "overage" away, and have plans of taking care of a few things on my Must Have list of sharp objects.:D
