Increase In Price?

Tactical Knives mag did a review of the MC1 and were very impressed with it. Then again, has anyone ever read an even mildly negative review in TK.

I got their "Special Projects" (wtf?) catalog and Proof DVD yesterday because I'm a sucker for free stuff. The dvd is hilarious, especially the section where they demostrate the "striking power" of their "torpedo thrower." It basically consists of Lynn T. hitting a hanging cinder black with a bar of partially shaped metal. I could produce the same result with an old golf club. :jerkit:

Hmmm, I can't find a warranty page on the Fallkniven site, do they back their knives at all?
It's currently my pick for the knife I'm going to get, but if it doesn't have a good warranty then I'll pick the Top's one.

I just bought a Cold Steel Black Sable with a 4" San Mai III blade and it is one of the sharpest knives I've ever used. Cold Steel says that San Mai III is VG-1 sandwitched between 420. I don't know where the Aus-8 refernce comes from. Isn't VG-1 a different steel than Aus-8? I read that VG-1 was a superior stainless, better than 440a,b,c, or Aus-8. Am I mistaken. I have a BM710 in ATS-34 and I can not make it as sharp as my Black Sable using my Spyderco ceramic shapening system. I'd appreciate any useful feedback.

they only recently changed it to VG1. I have not seen any evidence that it is a superior steel, aside from the usual Cold Steel marketing

Just a bump for this, and my knife tip questions. Or if there's a better sub-forum for these questions, please tell me.
