index finger assisted opener

I'm going to throw in a wild-card vote here: Buck just sent me one of their new #347 Vantage Pros to try, unfortunately right after I finished up a knife review. Made in the U.S., S30V steel, G10 scales, reversible clip, and the easiest-to-operate flipper I've ever tried. All for around $50. I EDC a large Sebenza, but this Buck really impressed me.

A lot of others seem to agree with me, Kershaw Scallion is an awesome one. I've got one, its my edc. Great knife, great assisted open, completely one handed operation. Great knife, great price.

Another here for the MANY, MANY Kershaws which have the feature you are looking for. Leek is one of my personal favs... Needs work, Centofante (sp?), Zing, Junk Yard Dog, Junk Yard Dog II, Skyline, chive, scallion... so, so many of the type you are looking for. No matter what type, size or cost, they'll pretty likely have something that will work for you.

It sounds like you need a flipper. What is your budget? There are some excellent production flippers out there, as well as some superb custom knives!!

On knives with dual thumb studs I often open the knife with my middle finger.

Pinch the knife near the pivot between thumb and index finger. The end of the handle snugged into your palm. Put the nail of your middle finger on the stud that's underneath. Flick it as if it were a beetle you were trying to get rid of.

Out comes the blade easy as pie. And on many models you hand is closer to the position you use the knife in anyway.
